Vengeance For Jenny

Chapter 10 - Listen to me 4.2

I watch over my shoulder as she bolts from the room. I couldn't tell if she was angry with me or getting out of there to hide the fact that she was hiding an impending break down. I hear a door slam shut. Following out of the room I look to my left at the last door, I grind my teeth fighting the urge to find out if the pixie is as tough and cold hearted and everyone thinks, but I knew fully well now was not the time for that. Whispers come from the opposite direction. I look down the hall was officers and detectives where now standing in the living room close to the hall opening talking. I notice their eyes shift away from my direction from the direction. They certainly saw Jenny storm out of the child's room and into her own hearing her slam the door.

I sigh looking back over my shoulder into the room at the crib at the broken lamp on the floor. I lean back against the door frame. I slip my hand into my right pocket; of my black cargo pants. Grasping my cell phone, I slide my finger across the screen making it light up it requests a face scan to unlock. Holding it in position, it quickly unlocks and I hit the contact icon. Dodger being my closest friend was at the top in favorites as he was really the only one that I talked to since I walked away from my old life. I had all my old contacts however; I couldn't bring myself before to dial then. I sigh selecting Dodger's name he was going to have a field day that I didn't tell him sooner what was going on. Holding the phone up to my ear his voice comes on the line almost laughing.

"Let me guess, she's a stubborn brat and won't listen." He practically chuckling as if he is amused at the idea that she'd cause me trouble. I sigh into the phone that's against my ear. I rub the back my neck.

"Actually, the typhoons rage and stubbornness has been redirected." I say preparing him for what I'm about to tell him.

"What happened?" His business tone once again back.

I tell him what I discovered and what is going on at this moment. He quickly listens till I finish.

"Fuck me, hasn't that kid, been through enough?" His comment has caught me off guard as I don't know what he's referring to but now wasn't the time.

"Dodger, there's cops all over this place, they're picking apart the crime scene removing evidence. If we are going to get any leads then need this case contained to the G.O.D.

"Hold on." I hear the line go silent. I wait for what seems like ten minutes when I notice the radio receivers being worn on the shoulder of the uniform of several officers surveying the house crackle and a female voice that was muffled delivering a message. I glare wondering what now. One turns and looks down the hall then shouts for everyone to leave everything as is, because as of this moment the case is out of their jurisdiction and you can tell he is pissed about it.

"Taken care of." It was a statement not a question but I reply anyway.

"Yeah. Who's still here and not on ȧssignment." I ask jumping to action.

"Lets' see." I hear him rifling through papers on his desk. His disorganization gets on my nerves.

"Jesus Christ how do you just not know that answer, I don't have all day for you to look for the right paper," I growl lowly.

"Papers pile up excuse me if I'm not one hell of a secretary that can keep up with some major CEO like someone I know." He snips back sarcastically.

"If you do it daily all day it wouldn't be a problem instead of going out to play." This he laughs at.

"Fuck you man you go playing too, don't you judge me. You want it organized do it yourself with those god-like skills." I hang up on him no time to deal with his antics.

I open the contacts again and the first number I think of is Eza and he partner Jaden they tended to stay close to home and there where my go to for digging up dirt generally. I select Eza's number it took three rings before she picked up. A soft mȯȧn escaped her lips. I quirked a knowing smirk. She would answer the phone in the middle of that if its someone from work.

"Make it fast." Another mȯȧn escaped; Times like this Anna would pop in my head imagining her, imagining touching her. This time though images of the spit fire flashed before me and my ċȯċk rockets to life. Fuck me this is the last thing I need. I just need her to listen to what I say till Dodger is satisfied and I can go back on missions alone.

"Thanks for the buzz kill." she sounded bummed and sour about it but the sound of clothes being put on could be heard as I clicked the end buŧŧon. I walked around inspecting everything that was left behind I wasn't about ready to call Ren for help not yet not till I used all possible options I had in front of me first. If they didn't work, I would fall back into hell till we found the child dead or alive.
