Lin Yu and his roommates got ready to go out at around 6pm.

“Elder Brother, why aren’t you ready yet? Let’s go!”

“Okay, that’s enough. You’re handsome enough now. Do you plan on slapping 1kg of foundation powder on your face?”

Despite their earlier refusal, Zhou Jie, Zheng Wei, and the others were now more excited than Xu Zhaoyang and urging him impatiently.

“I’m coming, why are you rushing me?”

Xu Zhaoyang finally came out of the toilet and was ready to leave. He looked over at Lin Yu and said, “Third Brother, why are you carrying your bag? Leave it in the room. Wait, do you want to change? Our bodies are pretty similar anyway.”

“No, I might just go home after the party. If I leave my bag in the room, I might have to make the trip back here just to get it.”

Lin Yu shook his head and went on, “I’m too lazy to change. I’m just there as an accessory. I won’t steal your spotlight.”

“Aren’t you a little thick-skinned? Stealing my spotlight?” Xu Zhaoyang replied teasingly.

The group of six left the dorm.

“Old Xu, where are you guys headed? Gonna all be sitting together at the cyber café?”

“What cyber café? We’re having a party with the Accounting students!”

“Wow, awesome, take me with you! I’m so bored I might become a magician soon.”

“Go away. We have limited resources and it’s only for those of us in the same room. It has nothing to do with you. Go back and play LoL.”

After having brief chats with people they knew along the way, the group left the dorm building and waited at the college’s back entrance.

Xu Zhaoyang was texting on Wechat while they waited. About 10 minutes later, a skinny girl with glasses ran over.

“Old Xu does have some skills. Who knew that he could attract a girl like that?”

As the glasses-wearing girl came over, Zhou Jie, who was standing next to Lin Yu, nudged him and winked.

“He does have his skills.”

Lin Yu nodded in agreement.

The glasses-wearing girl was not really pretty, and there was not much makeup on her face. She seemed like an honest introvert and these girls were the hardest to get.

“Liu Xin!”

As the guys chatted, Xu Zhaoyang approached her with a smile on his face; thankfully, he was not overly affectionate. He stopped in his tracks and asked, “Why are you alone? What about your roommates?”

“They’re still putting on makeup. Two of them have left the dorm already, but I’ve told them where we’re meeting up. They’ll come and join us there. Let’s go to the restaurant.”

“Okay.”

After chatting a little, the duo walked toward Lin Yu and the others with lovey-dovey smiles on their faces. They led the group and headed toward the restaurant.

The restaurant had a classy name—A Night In The Maple Forest.

Unfortunately, they were all students and could not even afford bikes, let alone cars. It was impossible for Xu Zhaoyang to have a romantic trip to the restaurant, which caused Liu Xin to roll her eyes at him.

The group settled down in the restaurant. After placing their orders, Liu Xin’s roommates began arriving one after the other.

It was not a story-like situation where they bumped into a random group of beautiful girls out of nowhere, but the girls were all above average.

Three of them seemed ordinary but were still nice to look at. Another girl had a chubby face, seeming cute and approachable. She felt like someone who was more best friend material than dateable.

The last girl—who was the ‘surprising academic genius’ that Xu Zhaoyang and Liu Xin were talking about—shocked Lin Yu and the others.

Her short hair was at the earlobe level. This hairstyle, which was hard to sport for a girl, usually made them look boyish. However, the hairstyle seemed to complement the academic genius’ babyface. She seemed cute with it.

Yes, she seemed like a good student. She looked like someone who was a class monitor throughout high school, and an obedient girl in front of teachers and parents. She had the girl-next-door vibe as well.

The most amazing thing about her was her eyes. They were big and round, looking around vigorously. She seemed like a sharp girl. Her eyes also became crescent-shaped whenever she smiled, and her eye teeth could be seen in her smile.

If the girl’s face had a score of around 80 on normal days, she could get a near-perfect score with that smile. Her smile as she greeted Liu Xin nearly stole the hearts and souls of the guys.

“That’s it, I’m in love.”

“No, this is how a first crush feels like.”

“She’s goddamn beautiful.”

The guys and girls sat across each other at the round table in the restaurant. Liu Xin and the other five girls were laughing with each other while Zhou Jie and the guys whispered to one another.

Before dinner was served, Xu Zhaoyang and Liu Xin began introducing their roommates to each other.

The academic genius girl was Zhao Xiaolu, the chubby one was Wang Miao, and the others were Zhu Wan, Zou Ning, and Li Hui.

After introducing everyone to each other, the duo’s work was done. They began talking to each other in a public display of affection.

They had brought along five people each to act as third wheels. Their confidence was boosted, and they were having a great conversation.

It was pretty obvious that Xu Zhaoyang and Liu Xin were into each other. Otherwise, Xu Zhaoyang could not make this work by himself. Liu Xin seemed honest and introverted as well so if she was not into him, she would not have encouraged her roommates to come here.

It was going exactly how they wished. However, Zhou Jie and the others were left stranded. They made small talk with the girls when they were first introduced to them, but they did not have much to talk about after that and it was awkward for them to sit across the girls.

Lin Yu was doing slightly better than his roommates. As the saying went, ‘good conscience was like a soft pillow’, and since Lin Yu was focused on his superpower and ‘studying’, he did not bother thinking about anything else and was calmly checking out Zhao Xiaolu.

He wanted to interview this skill-based academic genius right away but given that they had just met each other, it was awkward to talk while his roommates were being weird introverts and he held himself back for the moment.

The dinner was exceptionally awkward. Zhou Jie, Zheng Wei, and the others were signaling to Xu Zhaoyang for help, but Xu Zhaoyang gestured that he could not do much about the situation. He winked at the guys as a sign telling them to try flirting with the girls.

After persevering through dinner, Xu Zhaoyang paid for the meal. The group was headed to the next stop—KTV.

The group booked a room and ordered some alcohol. Zhou Jie and the guys finally loosened up after drinking a few bottles amidst the dark lighting and loud music. Although they were mostly still talking among themselves, they attempted to sing occasionally. They would also go over to the girls’ side and drink with them as well.

1As for the girls, Wang Miao, Li Hui, and the others were pretty cheerful. The guys and girls soon started getting accustomed to each other. Wang Miao, who was the most approachable among the girls, became the ‘leader’ of the pack and ended up more popular than Zhao Xiaolu, who was the prettiest among them.
