Wild Young Princess: Mister, let's sleep?

Chapter 47 - The Cat And The Tigress

The spoon in her hand trembled with Luis and the Spirit staring at her intensely.

\'How am I supposed to eat if they\'re both drilling a hole in my head with their stare?\' She wept internally. The pressure on her was too much.

"You." Devon flinched when the Spirit spoke. She fought the urge to face the spirit and acted as if she couldn\'t see her.

"Do you like this guy?" The Spirit asked, pointing her thumb towards the man across from them.

Devon coughed and picked up the glass of water Lewis slid towards her.

\'How could she ask me such a straightforward question?\' She wondered, glancing at Lewis before she offered a subtle smile and continued eating.

Even though Devon wanted to answer the Spirit, she couldn\'t. Still, the question caused her face to redden. She liked Lewis as a friend, but her heart skipped a beat when the Spirit asked about it.

"I think he likes you," The Spirit said, timing it when Devon ate another mouthful of porridge that nearly choked her. "No, I\'m sure of it."

"Take it slowly," Lewis advised with a frown. She was only eating porridge but kept gagging every five minutes.

\'What\'s wrong with her? She\'s been acting really weird.\' Lewis wondered internally as he let out a sigh. This had been stressing him out, to the point he even hopped into a ridiculous conclusion earlier.

The Spirit shook her head sideways as it was clear that these two were attracted to each other. Not that she planned to match-make them, because it would still feel weird seeing her face acting all chummy with Lewis.

"You know." The Spirit cupped her chin, drawing circles on the surface of the table with her finger. "You should live your life without regret, because once you\'re dead, you can\'t do anything, anymore."

The Spirit\'s voice sounded a little lonely, making Devon shift her gaze to her. Devon stared at the Spirit\'s side profile. Even though they were using the same face, she could discern the loneliness flickering across the Spirit\'s eyes.

\'Miss Lin,\' Devon whispered internally, biting her lower lip as her heart ached. \'Why didn\'t you want your body back? If you don\'t regret being a ghost, why do you look so lonely? What are you thinking? And why are you alright with me staying inside your body?\'

Those were only a few questions Devon wanted to ask the real owner of this body. The Spirit came off as strong, straightforward, and like a spawn of evil.

Devon wouldn\'t lie about feeling intimidated by her. However, she couldn\'t help but feel curious about what was the Spirit thinking.

"Even though I don\'t regret giving up my body, I still wished I did something while I was in it," The Spirit muttered as she slowly faced Devon. "I\'m saying you can rest assured I\'m not here because I want my body back."

The Spirit hummed as she slowly got up on her feet. "I\'m not as cruel to give you heaven just to drag you back to hell. That\'s not my style."

Devon furrowed her brows as the Spirit stretched her arms up and tilting them from left to right along with her upper body.

"Anyway, I don\'t plan on third-wheeling tonight," The Spirit said after doing stretching. "Have fun, You."

\'Where are you going?\' was what Devon wanted to ask, but couldn\'t.

Taking notice of Devon\'s expression, the Spirit smirked. "I\'ll be back when we can talk, because I\'m not done with you yet. For now, enjoy being stupid. Ignorance is bliss~!"

And then the Spirit did a crouch stance as if she was a running athlete before she dashed off through the window. Her action rendered Devon speechless as she slowly set her eyes towards the wall Devon passed through.

"Enjoy," she whispered, repeating the Spirit\'s last remark before the corner of her lips stretched into a subtle smile.

Lewis was baffled at where she was staring and why she was sporting different expressions.

\'I wonder what she\'s thinking." Another sigh slipped past his lips as the questions in his mind kept piling up.

To his surprised, when Devon faced him, a bright smile slowly appeared on her face.

"My friend!" She exclaimed. Her tone sounded somewhat relieved, as if she had removed a thorn in her throat.

He tilted his head to the side. "Did something happen when I blinked?"

Devon only giggled as she ate happily, making him arch his brow while eyeing her suspiciously.

"Something happened when I blinked… for sure." Because there was no way he\'d missed something as he was staring at her, trying to figure out what was on her mind. The only time she was out of his sight was when he blinked.

"Yes," Devon exclaimed as her heart felt full, and the guilt that kept weighing her down was lifted off her chest. "I feel blessed."

"Oh, is that so?" He nodded in understanding, more baffled by how she quickly changed moods just like that. But he didn\'t point it out, since she managed to collect her thoughts.

"Eat up. I\'ll go get my phone."

"Alright." Devon nodded as she watched him get up from his seat and walked away from the dining hall.

She could not help but smile, as it seemed the real owner of the body wasn\'t that bad. The latter was only straightforward and had a vulgar way of speaking, but overall, she didn\'t seem bad.

"I want to talk to her more now," Devon murmured as she wondered where the Spirit headed.

Just then, she realized about the Spirit\'s personal notes on the laptop. Now that she thought about it, the real Devon was the one who wrote about the short note questioning the real meaning of success.

"I want to get to know her more…" Devon\'s eyes flickered with determination and curiosity.

After her brief chat with her, Devon\'s curiosity was piqued, as she was eager to know the Spirit more. Even if it was just how her mind thinks.

"Also, she looks so strong." She chortled, recalling how they looked like twins, but because of their personality, they appeared so different.

One was like a curious, adorable cat.. While the other was like a… tigress.
