Wild Young Princess: Mister, let's sleep?

Chapter 31 - Beautiful Morning

PRESENT TIME. Lewis opened his eyes ever so slowly. What welcomed him was not what he would usually wake up to.

It was not Devon\'s side profile while staring at the ceiling. Instead, she\'s still fast asleep. A subtle smile resurfaced on his face.

Lewis glanced at the clock on the bedside table. It was a quarter before six in the morning. He over slept.

Slowly, he dragged himself up to sit. Lewis would automatically wake up once the clock hits four in the morning. Sometimes, he\'d wake up at five if his body truly required sleep.

\'What a weird dream.\' He muttered, stretching his neck sideways. Actually, he knew it wasn\'t just a weird dream.

It was a memory of his first encounter with Devon. After that morning they parted ways, Lewis found it hard to sleep once again.

For a person who would try all methods to sleep, he sought Devon from Marl. His proposal to her didn\'t last long, since Devon agreed almost immediately.

He had done a background check on her and knew she\'s a safe person. Hence, they did a trial and slept together.

Surprisingly, Lewis had slept once again. The trial was merely a few times a week. But Lewis slept in all those nights.

Thus, they signed the contract. As per the contract stated, Devon moved in this place so they didn\'t need to check in to a hotel every time they sleep together.

Lewis had taken care of everything; her place, her food, her allowance, and everything she asked for. Aside from her salary as his sleeping companion.

Until now, that contract existed. Lewis stretched his arms to warm his body up.

Once he was done, he looked at her. He stared at her for a long time and then raised the blanket to cover her shoulders.

\'Now that I think about it, we actually clicked the first time.\' He thought as he retrieved his hands back. Flinging his legs out of the bed to go to the bathroom.

\'Why did we become passive?\' He wondered early in the morning as he peed.

Cocking his head back, Lewis blinked his eyes as he got his answer.

The reason their relationship became stagnant was because the two of them took it for granted. Lewis and Devon had become so busy with their own lives.

Since Lewis could function well with enough sleep, he had worked harder. Meanwhile, Devon busied herself with writing her unpublished books.

\'Why am I even having these thoughts the moment I wake up?\' Lewis shook his head as he pulled up his pants, washed his hands, brushed his teeth, and left the bathroom.

When Lewis returned to the room, he set his eyes back on the bed.

"It doesn\'t matter now, is it?"

A smirk turned up on his lips. That\'s right. That didn\'t matter now since that was already months ago. They could just start over, since that was what she wanted.

Like usual, Lewis trudged outside the bedroom to make himself coffee. He did all his morning rituals; enjoying a cup of coffee while reading the current news.

Thirty minutes later, Lewis frowned. This peacefulness bore him. So, he called Derek who hasn\'t sent him a message.

"Good morning, Young Master." Derek greeted as soon as the line connected.

"Derek, why aren\'t you sending me anything?" Lewis inquired, displeased at how quiet his morning was.

Normally, Derek would have sent Lewis schedule, the priority matters of the day, and how Lewis\' day would be. But now, he didn\'t.

"Young master, aren\'t you in a vacation?"

"Ahh…" When Derek answered, Lewis\' buffering brain finally remembered his one week break.

"But, I had sent a word to the chairman about your interest in blind dates. He said he will set you up once your vacation is over." Derek added solemnly.

"I see. Alrigh…" Lewis nodded before his eyes gradually widened. "What?"

"The chairman said he will set you up on blind dates." Derek repeated in the same stoic tone.

"Wait, what?" Lewis\' entire face scrunched up.

"Last night, you sent me an email regarding setting you up on blind dates. I\'m surprised too. So, I called you to confirm. You told me the same. That\'s why I sent a word to the chairman immediately."

When Derek explained it to him, Lewis remembered his impulse orders last night out of frustration.

Slowly, Lewis gasped in horror. He did say those orders! His head suddenly throbbed, making him massage his temples.

"Uhh…" He let out a frustrated groan.

"Shall I tell the chairman you changed your mind?" Derek inquired, sensing Lewis\' strange tone. "Although I\'m afraid the chairman might throw a huge fit."

Lewis remained silent for a long time. When he answered, he waved his hand as he leaned back.

"No. It\'s fine, I guess."

"Alright, then." Derek nodded, even though Lewis couldn\'t see him.

After that, Lewis cut the line short. He tossed his phone on the side as he lifelessly stared at the ceiling.

"Blind dates, huh?" He muttered under his breath. "I guess that will help."

Since Lewis had been rejecting blind dates offers from his persistent grandfather, Lewis thought it would be best to make him happy. Also, maybe he could divert his attention from Devon.

There wasn\'t any reason Lewis wasn\'t dating currently. Aside from finding it very annoying to dine with a stranger on top of working tirelessly.

"I hope it will help." He sighed, not really excited about it.

Lewis stayed like that for a moment before he dragged himself up. It\'s been an hour since he woke up. He should check on her.

With that thought in mind, Lewis trudged back to the bedroom. For a moment, he leaned his side against the jamb. As expected, Devon was still fast asleep.

"Hah… what time does she plan to wake up?" He smiled, shaking his head as he trudged in.

He carefully perched on the edge of the bed. His palm against the soft surface. His eyes on her.

\'Should I wake her up?\' He wondered, but decided not to. Devon should rest more. Also, it was not that they had other plans for today.

While Lewis stared at her with a smile, her eyes beneath her eyelids flinched. Slowly, her eyelashes fluttered as they opened.

Lewis wanted to look away as he somehow felt embarrass for watching someone as they sleep. However, Devon\'s gaze instantly caught him, which made him froze.

"Uh…" He touched his nape, thinking of a reason he was staring.

However, the corner of her lips cozily curled up. She pulled the sheet up, wrapping herself as if enjoying her warmth.

"Good morning." She greeted lazily, with a satisfied smile.

In his eyes, Lewis saw flowers with a touch of pink blush around her face. Her simple smile just dazzled him.

"It is indeed a… beautiful morning." He mindlessly murmured.

\'I don\'t think those blind dates will help at all.\'
