Chapter 20: Coming Home as Someone else

Translator: Guy Gone Bad

Nancheng Lie looked back but didn’t sit back but only looked at his second brother anxiously. “We ran into each other when he collected his medicine. It was a car accident, I guess.”

“Car accident?” Nancheng Lie yelled and his body trembled out of control. The incident two years ago came back to his mind. It was the biggest terror he had ever experienced in his life. He couldn’t feel his heartbeat when he saw Han Mingxu lie on the ground unconsciously.

“Don’t worry. It wasn’t him. It was…was… Yes, the man you sent to hospital two years ago. He became a vegetable but came around half a month ago. His name…”

“Li Qinghao?” Nancheng Lie was relieved but then got more uneased.

“I don’t remember his name.”

“Why were they together? Why were they in the same car accident?” Nancheng Lie asked a bunch of questions that his brother couldn’t answer

“I asked the doctor. He was driving a car while his physical condition was not good enough because he was in coma for two years. So he had a car crash.” What a great brother he was! He cared about his brother’s friend and even friend of his friends’.

Nancheng Lie gave it a thought and kissed his mother on the forehead, “Mom, sorry that I can’t be here with you on your birthday. But you will be happier with dad and the kids.”

Then he ran out of the house. A short moment later, the engine of a car was started. He drove away in a split second.

“He is…” His mother frowned and looked out of the gate. She was worried about her son. Then she was held in big and warm arms. She leaned on her husband who was 20 years older than her.

“He knows what to do.” Mr. Nancheng comforted her although he was worried about his son too.

“Come on. You love birds!” Kids started to tease them and everybody laughed.

At Han Mingxu’s House

A silver-haired old man was sitting at the host seat, reading newspapers wearing a pair of reading glasses.

Li Qinghao stood at the doorway and couldn’t move. Grandpa…Grandpa… He tried his best not to run toward him and hug him. He and his grandpa were very close since he lost his parents when he was very young. But now he couldn’t tell him who he really was, which was a great torture.

He couldn’t, at least not now.

The old man may have sensed something as Li Qinghao stared too hard at him. He looked at Li Qinghao, not, at Han Mingxu who was standing next to Li Qinghao, “is this your friend? It is the first time that you bring a friend home except for Lie.”

Nancheng Lie didn’t need Han Mingxu’s accompany. He usually came on his own, kicking the door open with his leg.

“Yes, grandpa. This is my friend Qinghao.” Han Mingxu introduced with a smile, “Qinghao, this is my grand…pa.” He paused because he saw Li Qinghao whose facial expression changed constantly, “Qinghao?” He called him again to remind him.
