The Strongest Demon Lord in the Modern World

Chapter 44 - Reminisce

Aziel felt quite amused as he watched the two boy\'s complicated looks for an extra moment, before turning his attention back to the shy young girl sitting next to her.

Myra\'s cheeks were red as a ripe tomato, with several conflicting emotions mixing together in that small, lithe frame of hers. Her heart was beating to a rather chaotic rhythm, her mind was slowly descending into an absolute mess.

She was unable to formulate a question any more, despite having the desire to. After the many outrageous, shocking, and most importantly, quite impossible events that happened in quick succession, her mind had a really hard time processing everything.

Starting from the moment she landed her gaze on the figure she was already a mess. This strange sensation of knowing someone when you clearly don\'t was eating away at her bit by bit.

After witnessing how an entire human body liquified magically and fused with his body, and the subsequent slight albeit noticeable change in the boy\'s complexion was beyond what her fragile heart and feeble mind could take at once.

In the end, she couldn\'t even take his gaze, those alluring, mesmerizing crimson gaze. That piercing, deep gaze that could stare way into her soul, shaking her very foundation from just a mere glance… No, her heart was already rattled, Myra could only turn to look at the floor, and listen to the humming engine as they traversed through the heavy lunchtime traffic.

Seeing how frightened the girl became, did not bother her, but turned his attention back to the glass, whilst a gentle smile donned on his face. Gazing at these mortal humans rushing about and tending to their duties or whatever chores they have set their minds to, made him reminisce about her traitorous brothers and sisters. To a time when they were still one family, and have not sold their souls to the enemy…

Aziel slowly closed his eyes as his eidetic memory traversed him through the memory lane…

(AN.: Since I realized that the side chapter thing cannot even be used for the moment, I figured I\'ll just fuse in the extra lore with smaller bits and pieces. Whilst not necessary for the time being, it does give a bit more insight into the world\'s lore. Though there\'s a lot of lore, I\'ll not dump it all at once, but use it like this, as transitions.)

In a humungous, marble hall 13 figures sat in lavishly decorated, throne-like chairs. Each throne unique, with different motifs decorating it from top to bottom. In each of the 13 thrones, a different-looking humanoid creature sat, looking around with a cold, emotionless look in their eyes. While they all mostly held humanoid features, each figure had its own kirks, traits.

One had a pair of goat-like horns growing from his temples, while another female had a literal pit of golden-scaled snakes dangling from the top of her head. Strangely, the snakes were all alive despite being grown out from the figure\'s head. They were hissing in tandem at the other similarly majestic figures in the spacious room. She had a pair of yellowish, reptilian eyes, focused on the tall, black double doors at the far end.

"How long are we going to wait?! While we waste our time here, who knows how many of our kin are slaughtered or taken away by those filthy bastards!" Another figure that resembled a giant bipedal lion-like mix between a beast and men jumped up from his throne, hitting the burgundy velvet armrest.

His eyes scanned through his twelve other brethren, eventually resting on a bored-looking, long, silver-haired man. His eyes were closed, but that only emphasized his handsome look.

"Brother Aziel, how can you stay calm in times like this?! How can you be so relaxed, so disinterested in the lives of our people!" He roared loudly, angered by the blatant, disrespectful action.

The silver-haired man did not even bother opening his eyes, he only leisurely waved with his hand. Yawning, he spoke with a tired, cold tone.

"Sit down and wait patiently for our Master to arrive, Lord Frelahn. Don\'t force me… You know how that would end."

Lord Frelahn was visibly shaking as he tried to keep his anger in check. He wasn\'t known for his calm demeanor after all. Born as a beastkin with such a royal predator as his ancestor, he wasn\'t known for his toned-down, cool demeanor.

Still, he wasn\'t an idiot either. He was perfectly clear the difference in power between this lean, bored, silver-haired figure and himself. He was aware of how terrifying this monster could be when he decided to take action.

As he thought about it a bit, with all his willpower Lord Frelahn held himself back, taking a long inhale of the marble hall\'s fresh, majestic air, and with a slow and controlled exhale, he silently sat back down to his velvet seating.

He could only look viciously at the bored, half-asleep figure, without any possible course to vent his anger.

"Ohohoh, you boys! I love how you can\'t grow up even after so many years…" The serpent-haired woman giggled haughtily, clearly enjoying the scene, her generous bosom shaking vigorously.

"Liandrin, I would advise you to keep your thoughts to yourself, or I will show you where a whore like you truly belong!" Lord Frelahn, being already agitated by being threatened, wasn\'t willing to let that snake woman have her turn as well.

Once again, he smashed the armrests of his chair, which miraculously still managed to withstand the brutal pummeling, and cried out looking at the woman with a cruel, lust-filled glint shining in his eyes.

Lady Liandrin, the snake-haired reptilian-looking woman chuckled once again at the annoyed Lord Frelahn\'s threats, clearly not afraid of his wrath in the slightest.

Before she could offer a riposte, suddenly the previously warm, mid-summery temperature in the room shifted. A cold gust of air came from seemingly nowhere and breezed inside, chilling the room\'s air, turning both parties silent instantly.

The lady\'s haughty mood vanished, only to be replaced by a frightened look as she turned towards the previously bored, half-asleep silver-haired man. Now, however, his pair of crimson, blood-red piercing eyes was plastered at her, gazing down coldly.

The terrifying pressure that this simple action exerted, caused the entire room to turn eerily silent. With all the attention focused on her, Lady Liandrin hurriedly stood up and bowed deeply towards the man.

With a respectful and shaky tone, much different than how he addressed the proud lionkin lord, she spoke.

"I apologize for my disrespectful behavior Lord Vor\'thega. I will assure you it will not happen again… so if you could, please…" She dared not to raise her eyes, even the nest of serpents settled on top of her head quieted down, clearly wary of the demonic being at the other end of the room.

The man did not respond to her apology but merely shifted his contemptuous gaze towards the frowning beastkin.

Albeit clearly unwilling, with no other choice, Lord Frelahn as well stood up from his seat, and copying the reptilian lady\'s actions, he too bowed and apologized.

"Just like how Lady Liandrin spoke, I too have to apologize for my rude behavior, Lord Vor\'thega!" Turning silent for a second, he clenched his fists and continued with a growling undertone. "I am just worried. Those despicable maggots… this.." He spat on the ground with clear disdain and rage as he continued with a bit of difficulty. "… human filth, are continuously raiding the settlements close to our borders! We need to put a stop to them!"

"Not just those, but they are now launching skirmishes deeper into our lands, destroying and pillaging as they see fit! We need to do something!" Another man, a tall, robust, dark brown-skinned, bald figure with large platinum eyes added, joined in the discussion.

"My dear sisters are being slaughtered! We need to resolve this conflict! This can\'t go on!" A harpy-looking woman joined in as well."

"Yes, my people are also suffering!"

"We have to do something! This can\'t continue on!"

One by one, each and every person stood up, adding their own to the ongoing argument, all looking at the silver-haired figure for answers as if he were the one to blame for all their misery.

Raising his right hand in the air, Lord Vor\'thega turned the room silent once more. He opened his mouth to speak, but, before he could say a word, the words froze in him, as the large ebony double doors behind them were suddenly kicked wide open. From behind the doors, a majestic voice came, reverberating the huge hall.

"My dear friends, don\'t worry, I have the solution for your worries!"

"Welcome, my king!" Shifting his tone, Lord Vor\'thega bowed his head, greeting the robust majestic figure that appeared in the wide doorway.

Stepping into the room, Cahal the Demon God, the ruler of the thirteen Demon Lords of all non-humans. His giant figure blocked the large towering doorway, towering over everyone in the room.
