The Spinster

Chapter 9 - She's my Goddess

Lulu woke up with a stiff neck. She didn't know what happened except she was still leaning on the dining table and Danni was nowhere to be found.

She walked towards their quarters, thinking that Danni wasn't feeling well. As she went out of the kitchen, she bumped into Sierra Co.

Her eyes went round. "I didn't mean to bump into you, Young Miss," she apologized, lowering her head.

Lulu waited for Sierra Co to burst out. She raised her head slightly, peering on her through her eyelashes. However, she wasn't ready for what she saw.

The Young Miss was smiling!

"It's fine. No one can destroy my mood today," Ria Zhang said, waving her hand. She already went past Lulu, when she turned her head. "By the way, Danni wanted to work for Kara Lu so I allowed her. Would you, by chance, want to follow her?"

Lulu almost choked when she realized what Sierra Co has said. Danni really went to Kara Lu to work? What was she thinking? Lulu might not really happy with Sierra Co's attitude but she was still their Young Miss. She has been serving Sierra Co since the Young Miss Co was 15.

Sierra used to be a quiet teenager, always buried in her books. She just started opening up with strangers when she went to boarding school in Switzerland. But even then, she was always reserved.

She just became bitchy when Marvin Kang rejected her. Although almost all the time, she punished them, Sierra Co didn't do it according to her whim. There was always a wrongdoing on their part.

Ria Zhang's face broke into a smile. It was a rarity to find someone with that overbearing loyalty. Even in her sixty years, she didn't meet a person like that.

"It's good of you to know. I am the type of person who reward those loyal to me and punish those who go against me.

Lulu was a sharp woman. She knew that the disappearance of Danni was indeed a punishment. She could only lowered her head. Danni should have seen it coming.

It was a bright sunny morning at Costa City. Ria Zhang went out of the apartment with Lulu heading to the City Shopping Centre. She decided to upgrade her wardrobe. Sierra Co's personal closet was good however, for her caliber, it was still lacking.

Earlier this morning, she went through her closet and found a summer dress from the XT Collection of Costa Dresses. The tag was not removed yet so Ria Zhang was sure it was still new. As its color was pastel yellow, Ria Zhang doesn't know how it became part of Sierra Co's closet. The previous Sierra Co favored dark colors over soft hues based on the clothes inside the closet.

Pulling it out from the closet, she put it on. Checking herself in front of the life-size mirror, the pastel yellow complemented her clear skin. It was just an A-line design summer dress. However, with such nice legs, she looked younger than her actual age.

Ria Zhang paired it with white sneakers and white leather backpack. Because she planned to buy a lot of clothes, she brought Lulu with her.

The Costa Shopping Centre was the playground of the rich and famous in Costa City. Going out of the Audi, Ria Zhang took a steps towards the main entrance, with Lulu trailing not far behind her.

She wore eyeglasses to shield her eyes from the bright sunlight that loomed over the city. The guards at the entrance was momentarily stunned when they saw her. Her hair was already cut short down her shoulders, emitting a dainty vibe.

"G-Good morning, Miss," one of the guards stammered. In his five years of guarding the main entrance of the Costa Shopping Centre, no one has ever greeted him. At most, all he can get was a nod from some people.

Judging from the outfit of the woman, she didn't come from those noveau riche families. The straight back and slightly tilted chin cannot be learn in such a short time. It was something ingrained in a person's breeding.

However, the guard was wrong. Ria Zhang used to be a theater actress and her mentors were really strict. Possessing a patrician face that commanded attention, Ria Zhang always get the girl heiresses roles in their plays.

She used to mind because it was hard learning the etiquettes of the high society fpr the sake of acting. But who would have thought that it would become handy in this lifetime?

Lulu thought that something has changed with her Young Miss. However, she could not pinpoint it out. Sierra Co was born with a golden spoon in her mouth which made her entitled. Greeting a mere security guard was definitely not her cup of tea.

Hence, when it reached her ears, she could not help but grasp. "Young Miss!" she exclaimed. "You're the Young Miss of the Co Family. You are not required to greet them," Lulu widened her eyes when she realized what she had said.

Another thing that Sierra Co hated: telling her what to do especially coming from a maid like her. She held her breath.

"Nonsense," Ria Zhang said. I might be the Young Miss Co but it doesn't give me the right to disrespect other people. Anyway, let's go."

"Enjoy your shopping, Y-Young Miss Co," the guard couldn't believe it. As someone working in the shopping centre, he knew some gossips. The Young Miss Co was pretty elusive. Not once did she grace a party, even those hosted by her parents. Hence, people assumed that the Young Miss Co has a frail body.

"Yes. She's very different from that Sierra Co," the other one said.

The guard glared at his fellow guard. "Don't compare my goddess with that s.l.u.t."

"She's also my goddess!" the other one insisted.

The roof of the Costa Shopping Centre was shaped like a dome and made with fiber glasses. Ria Zhang raised her head and looked. The blazing sun penetrated the fiber glass, illuminating the inside of the shopping centre.

She glanced at Lulu. "Where do you think should I buy first?"

Lulu got another shock of her life. Did her Young Miss just ask her where to shop? Taking a deep breath, she answered her. "Aside from foreign brands, Young Miss, you can try the Costa Dresses. They have the largest shop here in shopping centre."

Lulu felt like crying. Why was Sierra Co asking her where to shop? Her Young Miss was even wearing the sole design of Mira Cheng, the head designer of Costa Dresses. As someone who always lurked around the social media, Lulu knew it.

Two months ago, Mira Cheng was asked during a fashion show what her favorite design among her designs was. She said that it was a summer dress but it was not for sale. She was commissioned by a very influential person to create the dress.

Lulu has no idea who the person was. Turned out, it was her Young Miss.

"Okay. Then, let's go there now. Lead the way," she said.
