The Spinster

Chapter 18 - Cradle Snatcher

Chapter 18 - Cradle Snatcher

The sun was scorching hot but Ria Zhang doesn't mind. That's why SPF lotion was invented, right?

However, she wasn't able to bring sunglasses. Hence, she was squinting from time to time.

Her brother finally left her on her own. Damn, although she liked the doting attitude of Stanley Co, sometimes it was also annoying.

She walked around the open space, staring at different plants that were scattered throughout. There were also artificial trees that provided some shade, somehow decreasing the warm temperature.

Ria Zhang stopped at the flowering plants, taking shots of them in macro settings. The flowers were in different kinds and colors.

Browsing the pictures she took, she deleted those that didn't meet her standards and saved those she thought would be nice to be hung on the wall.

She then took a couple of shots before leaving.

Her breath was caught in her mouth when she reached the end part of the open space. The area was directly overlooking the sea.

The blue ocean glittered against the sun, enchanting anyone to discover its secrets.

The sea breeze gently blew her hair. She has no show but to grab it with her one hand as it was obstructing her view.

Her dress which hugged her figure like a second skin was also swaying against the wind.

Ria Zhang took a step forward. This part of the restaurant was deserted. Several benches were placed, as if to appreciate the scenery.

She was guessing that this area would be nice for sunsets. It would be nice if she can watch it here.

She opened her camera, snap a few shots, then checked if they were to her liking.

This would look good on canvas, she thought.

Suddenly, she heard voices from above. She raised her head. She gasped. Not far from where she stood, there was a part of the open space which was elevated.

"Wow. What a nice structure," Ria Zhang cannot help but exclaimed.

This must be what Stanley Co was claiming to be the best spot.

She then glanced at the open ocean. It would be nice to take pictures from that spot.

Ria Zhang pressed her lips tightly. What a shame that they weren't able to get the spot, she lamented. Well, one cannot get the best of both worlds.

She sighed before turning around to go back. Then, the owners of those voices came into her.

Her eyes flickered with excitement as soon as her gaze landed on one of the two men.

The duo went to the far corner of the glass room, seemingly discussing with an important matter based on their serious expressions.

The man who caught Ria Zhang's attention can be said to have walked straight out from the magazine.

Broad shoulders, nice a.s.s. Perfect combination.

Ria Zhang was grinning like an idiot. She couldn't believe that someone finally caught her attention after sixty years.

Sixty years! This was not even her time. Ria Zhang felt like crying.

She doesn't want to be a cradle snatcher!

Heavens, this was not a good joke, she thought.

The man wore sunglasses which highlighted his almost perfect nose.

Ria Zhang's hand unconsciously touched her nose, as if to make sure that it was still there.

Damn, this man's genes, should she ask for some?

As if remembering that she has a camera, Ria Zhang brought it near her face, and zoomed in towards the man before cl.i.c.k.i.n.g the camera.

After snapping a shot, she examined it. Only the half profile of the man was visible on the shot.

Not good, she thought before snapping another shot. Looking at it, she chewed her lower lip.

"Can he just look at my direction?" She complained aloud.

As if the man heard her, he looked at her. A smirk was visible on his lips.

"Omg, omg. He looked at me," she said.

Ria Zhang's eyes went wide as her palms went clammy. She can feel the blood rushing to her ears and face. But she can't take off her eyes from the man.

Hot papa! She lowered her head first. Another second of eye to eye contact and she would just collapse on the ground.

This is so not you, Ria Zhang! She scolded herself inwardly. Remember, you're the ultimate spinster. A man's gaze cannot beat you up.

She g.r.o.a.n.e.d. Easier said than done.

"Little sis, what are you doing there? The food has been served," Stanley Co's voice disturbed her flow of thoughts.

"Brother!" Ria Zhang sprinted towards him, not minding her demeanor. For now, she saw her brother as a savior.

"What's up with you?" Stanley Co asked her with furrowed eyebrows. "Are you blushing?"

"Of course not!" She denied it. She would not admit it no matter what happened. "The sun! Yes. It must be the sun," she said.

Poor sun. It had became Ria Zhang's scapegoat.

Stanley Co just raised his shoulders. "Okay, let's go. The food's waiting."
