The Spinster

Chapter 16 - Doubt

The weather looked gloomy that day. After the commotion at the Costa Dresses Company, Ria Zhang decided to stay indoors. Staying indoors meant no money spending.

Right now, she was twirling the pasta with her fork. Her chin was resting on her right hand. "Lulu, where can I get money?"

Lulu who was standing near her didn't know what to say. She was just a maid. How would she know where to get money? She glanced at her Young Miss.

Sierra Co was not really fond of using make up. Her face was b.a.r.e. Lulu doubt her Young Miss was even wearing lip balm. Sierra Co's lips were naturally supple. Her cheekbones were well-defined. But what could be said to be Sierra Co's primary asset when it comes to face was her brown eyes.

When she's smiling, you can drown in them. When angry, it can freeze you.

"M-Maybe we can ask Young Master?" Lulu suggested after a while. She doesn't know if it was right or wrong. All she knew was technically, her Young Miss was a beggar at the moment.

It was a good thing that the unit they were currently occupying was already leased to them for a year.

Ria Zhang snapped her fingers in the air before standing up. "You're a genius, Lulu!" She then dashed towards her room.

Lulu was left in the dining room with wide eyes. Since when did her Young Miss ran like that? That was unbecoming of a Young Miss.

It seemed that Lulu has forgotten that for the past few months, before Ria Zhang took over the body of Sierra Co, the previous owner was chasing Marvin Kang all over Costa City. If that wasn't an indication of wayward young miss, Lulu's standard must be abnormal.

Inside the room, Ria Zhang dialed her brother's number. It was Saturday today so she was sure that she wouldn't disturb any meeting.

After three rings, her call went through. She wrinkled her eyebrows before glancing at the table clock. Was he busy? She asked inwardly.

"Little sis, what is it that you called so early?" Stanley Co's hoarse voice reached her ears.

Ria Zhang rolled her eyes. What early? It's already ten o'clock in the morning. Her brother has also this side of him? Interesting. She thought of him as a workaholic.

"Let's have a saturdate!" She exclaimed. In both lives, this would be her first time to have a siblings date.

Stanley Co almost fell out of the bed. What's wrong with his sister today? Sierra Co was not the type to display affection. Although Sierra Co has slowly warming up to her for the past few weeks, he knew that she wouldn't initiate a date.

His lips formed a thin line when he thought about that Marvin Kang. That jerk destroyed his sister's innocence. Even ruining Sierra Co's reputation in Costa City.

"Elder brother? Are you still there?" Ria Zhang asked. "Did you fall asleep again?" Irritation laced her voice.

"Just thinking of a nice place to bring you," he answered.

Ria Zhang giggled. "I hope it's something elevated. Like a view of the city or the sea."

Stanley Co raised an eyebrow as he went down from the bed. "I know a place. The best place in Costa City."

"Really?" Ria Zhang screamed silently.

Stanley Co can hear the excitement from his sister's voice. It's a good thing that she's happy. Better forget that bastard, he thought.

"Can we take pictures?"

"Yes," he went inside the bathroom and opened the faucet in the bathtub. After, he went inside the walk-in closet, selecting an outfit for the day.

"But I don't have a camera," Ria Zhang pouted.

"I'll buy you one. No need to worry about it," he said, pulling a shirt and blue jeans.

Ria Zhang's laughter assaulted Stanley Co's ears. His eyes turned misty.

"You're the best brother in the world," Ria Zhang decided to hug the t.h.i.g.h of her brother.

"You only have one brother, if I may point out," Stanley Co cannot help but tease her.

"I know. But still, you love me the most," Ria Zhang told him. She wanted to add that if not for his support, she was not sure if she can survive this world.

"Get ready. I'll pick you up in an hour," he said before ending the call.

"Okay!"

Exactly an hour after the call ended, the door bell rang. Ria Zhang who was busy browsing the net looked up.

Lulu went to the door and pulled it open. "Young Master," she greeted, lowering her head.

Stanley Co nodded before taking a step inside.

Currently, Ria Zhang was sitting on a sofa, her leg was crossed over the other. She left her hair hanging just about her shoulder. She only wear a lip balm but highlighted her eyes with mascara and eyebrow liner.

It was an understatement to say that Stanley Co forgot to breath. Was it really his sister in front of him? He took a deep breath.

"Ria?" It was his sister's nickname. Only him, their parents, and their grandfather called Sierra Co with that nickname.

"Are you really my sister?"

Ria Zhang walked slowly towards Stanley Co. The man in front of her was dashing in a moss green shirt and blue jeans. He paired it up with white sneakers.

But her feelings were that of brotherly love. When she reached his side, her arms went around his waist.

"The one and only," she smiled.

In this life, she would return the kindness this man gave her.

"Shall we go now? We're going to be late," she pulled Stanley Co towards the door.

"Seriously, little sis. You look different," Stanley Co commented but still followed her downstairs. "It's as if you're a different person."

Stanley Co knew that the woman pulling him was still his sister. He saw the small birthmark in her sister's wrist. But he can't just shake the feeling.

"Anyone would change if they experience heartbreak," Ria Zhang said indifferently. She purposely didn't hide the birthmark to remind Stanley Co that she was still that sister despite the huge difference of today from the past her.

If Stanley Co would ask her of things related to the Co Family, she might not answer it correctly. However, no matter what happened, she would bring this secret to the grave.

Stanley Co just shrugged. "Well, I like the new you."

"Same here!"
