The Legendary Pseudo-villain

Chapter 33:Ambitious heroes turned villains.

It seemed that the mutants and Hecathe had a really deep connection with each other. The Hecathe of this world was rumored to have died in their hands and the current Hecathe who was stuck inside Alphius's body could control all mutants.

What type of messed-up fate was this?!

Hecathe's face cringed up as he heard this, "..."

He clearly knew that this was a lie as well.

"Sir, you must not feel bad for him. That man deserved exactly what came for him. Who told him to go to a mutant cave and try to capture them alive?"

"He tried to capture them alive?" Hecathe focused back on Zail as he questioned.

Zail nodded with a frown on his face as he responded, "That Hecathe deserved to be called a madman. He actually thought that the mutants were the secret ingredient to creating artificial abilities. He was planning on getting rich and famous with his new plan but turns out that his own plan backfired and killed him. I've never heard of a more satisfying death."

"But... He didn't do anything wrong," Hecathe finally couldn't take it anymore and decided to defend the him of this world as he stated, "From what you have said, he was no different than Alphius. He wanted to create artificial abilities so that everyone in this world could live equally in peace."

Zail looked to be shocked as he heard Hecathe's take on this story, "Sir, I don't mean to be rude but only a madman would try to go after a stupid dream like that. Both Alphius and Hecathe were apples that seemed to have fallen from the same tree. There were alike and had the same ambitions however they chose their own methods to achieve what they wanted. Hecathe got the shorter end of the stick and died at a young age while Alphius is still in luck and continues to live."

Hecathe tilted his head and seemed to be a bit amused as he questioned, "So you hate both of them?"

"Well..." Unexpectedly, Zail looked to be a bit hesitant to give a straight response to the question, "I would not say that I hate them both since I don't even know them. I'm not really a person that judges a person without knowing them personally. However, I would say that I disagree with their way of thinking. At the end of the day, they think that they are the smartest out of the bunch. They think that they are special. That they are the chosen ones who should be respected, but we all know the reality. They were both idiots and nothing more than that."

Hecathe pursed his lips as he heard Zail say something that Hecathe would have never guessed for him to say.

"Why would you call them idiots? Alphius managed to create the mecha-suits, something nobody else was able to do while Hecathe tried to artificially create abilities which was once again something nobody else even dared to do. I'm sure that if he had not been killed off by... the mutants, he would have surely succeeded in his attempt and this world would have had a new era of change."

"But you don't see the whole picture," Zail sighed as he tried to explain his own thoughts to Hecathe, "The mecha-suits are expensive and they come with a condition. If you do not have abilities and you do not wish to be looked down upon by others, you could buy a mecha-suit to make up for it, however, once you bought one, you would automatically be considered as a part of them and you'll have to follow your captain's orders who would naturally be Alphius since he's the leader and creator."

Hecathe gulped as he genuinely tried to understand what this man was trying to tell him.

"He wanted to empower the suppressed and create a new footing in this world. He wanted everyone to feel equal. For everyone to stand up for themselves so that nobody suffers. Equality is certainly a beautiful dream and I am not against it, however, he was still not able to achieve his dream through the method he chose," Zail sighed and shook his head as he continued, "Instead of creating a world filled with equality where everyone respected each other, he further divided the people into more sections. The social structure got even more intense and defined because of him."

When Hecathe thought about it like this, he couldn't help but agree with this man.

"I would agree to you but at the same time, I think there is something you are mistaken about," Hecathe responded as he glanced at the man, "You say that he was able to create something amazing but in the process, he also lost sight of his goal and ended up never fulfilling what he dreamt up of. That's what you said, but how do you know what his goal or dream was?"

"..."

"As you have said before, you don't know them personally and they never said anything publicly about their goals and ambitions so how come you think that all they wanted to do was empower the people and bring a new sense of equality in this world?"

Zail was silent for a minute as he seriously pondered over what Hecathe had said. He took his own sweet time before finally scoffing as he replied, "Then that just makes it worse. If they didn't even have such goals to justify their actions. It just means that they wanted to put the people through a new hell in hopes of gaining profit out of it!"

Hecathe chuckled as he heard such a response, "So you want to say that if they had such goals, they would be stupid people who wanted to become the hero of the story and ended up becoming the villain instead because of unfortunate circumstances that their choices brought them?"

Zail nodded his head without any hesitation.

"But if they didn't have such ambitions, to begin with, it just means they are trash that were always meant to be the villain?"

"..."
