As soon as he left, Ling Mohan sent his fellowmen to spy on Wu Chenzi and his description to cure the fever. Soon he learned that Wu Chenzi used the Beast Hay to cure the fever. Therefore, he sent his men to buy up Beast Hey to interrupt Wu Chenzi’s plan. It turned out that he was still one step slower than Wu Chenzi.

It appeared to Ling Mohan that the second prince might take the credit of curing the heat this time. But to his surprise, his fellowmen who spied on Wu Chenzi came back with a news that Wu Chenzi had no Beast Hay to buy. Even those who were sent out of the city to buy Beast Hay came back empty-handed. One thing led to another. The pandemic was worsened and finally an increasing number of citizens died.

The emperor was furious about the outcome. He shouted harshly at Wu Chenzi and the second prince for entire morning. The two were released out of the emperor’s study not until noon.

“Great grand-father, could it be Ling Mohan to stop us from buying a single Beast Hay?” The second prince roared.

Finally he had a hope that he could win this time. But he didn’t laugh too long before this happened. It was so frustrating.

Wu Chenzi squinted and said, “I used to predict the current situation of our country. Although the divination said that there would be a doom for the country, I couldn’t read more details from the divination. Unless Ling Mohan hires a divination teller that is much more powerful than me, or there is no chance he can buy up the Beast Hay in advance. If that’s the case, he should have anticipated that I would buy up the Beast Hay and thus wouldn’t have given me any chance to claim the mission, or have kicked out his aides out of his palace so angrily after he learnt that we cure the imperial concubines and princes in the palace.”

They had spread the words and promised that they could cure the citizens who caught the fever in the city. But now worse than curing them, many of them were dead because of the fever. Citizens were mad at them now.

“Now what we can do is to investigate who has bought up the Beast Hay and also look for a way to buy some.” Wu Chenzi said.

Now they only hoped that the one who bought up the Beast Hay was not on the side of the crown prince.

Ling Mohan didn’t expect that there was a silver lining behind the whole thing. It was a complete surprise for him. The whole thing reminded him of Wu Ruo. It must be Wu Ruo that had bought up all the Beast Hay in the entire country.
