Chapter 33

In the end, Cui Xiao didn’t continue expressing his gratitude and left with his face cramping.

Shen Zhe was filled with regret. He said goodbye to Ling Xueru and returned to his dormitory while feeling exhausted.

He had been preparing for the illumination of his stars since noon and had yet to eat something. The two consecutive lightning strikes had significantly improved him, but he had also been drained and heavily wounded.

Cui Xiao was different. Most of the electricity passed through his body and entered the soil.

Shen Zhe, on the other hand, absorbed the magnificent electricity. It was still too much despite the sturdiness of his body.

His veins were burning in pain as if they were being ripped apart.

He took a hot bath and changed to clean clothes.

He was starving afterwards.

He couldn’t go to a restaurant with the heavy storm outside. He then noticed the remaining herb liquid as he wandered in his dormitory.

He had made five bottles of herb liquid with the materials that Lu Zihan offered. Three bottles had been given away, one had been taken by him and there was one last bottle left.

It wasn’t food, but the tremendous spiritual energy in it could help with his hunger and his wounds.

“Let’s see if I can reach the eighth stage of body polishing…”

Shen Zhe swallowed the herb liquid while sitting cross-legged on the bed.

Gu! Gu! Gu!

The herb liquid turned into a warm stream that entered every cell in his body.

While it had been highly effective the first time, it wasn’t working as strongly since he had already reached the seventh stage of body polishing.

“Power of the stars…”

The two stars in his body shined, and their magnificent power circulated along his broken veins, changing and improving his muscles.

“What a pure power…”

He didn’t know how the power of the stars worked for others, but his stars provided infinite power and nurtured his body after being illuminated by lightning. He was closer and closer to the peak of the seventh stage.

“Break!”

Shen Zhe raised his eyebrow after a long time passed.

BOOM!

Cracks burst out from inside his body and power flowed everywhere in a domineering manner.

“It worked…”

Shen Zhe clenched his fists, finding the situation hard to believe.

All the books in the library said that there were only seven stages in body polishing.

It was a rule and a law.

The eighth stage was only a made-up concept created by his obsessive-compulsive disorder. He never expected it to happen for real. Little did he know that two bottles of herb liquid and the power of the stars would make it work!

He looked inside his head.

The second pencil was not reduced. He had one last chance to use it.

He had changed his fortune twice by reaching a correct answer and illuminating stars with lightning.

The pencil was not shortened, which meant that he had made the breakthrough on his own.

It was based on his determination, the magnificent power of the stars, and the herb liquid he had concocted.

“Spirit Concentration, Skin Hardening, Veins Practice, Blood Practice, Bone Practice, Organs Practice, and Marrow Practice… The seven stages of body polishing are not real perfection!”

Those were just individual units; grasping them was not the end. One had to integrate them into a whole!

“I will call the new stage… the Stage of Unity!”

After reaching that stage, Shen Zhe finally understood why it was so challenging to become a Connate by body polishing.

How could someone gather his skin, muscles, veins and bones to break the Postnatal Barriers and condense the Connate Aura if those parts were not connected?

Those who weren’t Connate could not compete with level-one Mages or Martial Artists however strong they were. So, why would they work hard?

Besides, the bodies of Mages and Martial Artists would also grow sturdier as their level rose. They didn’t have to waste their time on bodybuilding at all.

“Let’s see if I can turn to page three…”

Shen Zhe tried to look at the third pace of the notebook since he had a third pencil.

The page was stuck and couldn’t be turned at all.

After multiple failed attempts, Shen Zhe gave up trying and continued consolidating his cultivation.

The crescent moon was rising. It was already dark.

“Creak!” A door was opened.

“Mr. Geng, I didn’t know it was your turn to watch over the Hall of Laws. I would’ve come this afternoon if I had known…”

Bai Yu entered the room after putting down the umbrella with a smile.

“It’s already late. What has brought you here, Ms. Bai?” Geng Xing looked at her in confusion.

The Hall of Laws kept the most detailed findings and theorems on the continent. Generally speaking, only Mages were qualified to protect it.

“I would like to search for several Mages!” said Ms. Bai Yu.

“Did they leave findings or theorems behind?” Geng Xing frowned.

While the names and deeds of countless Mages were stored there, those who hadn’t left any worthy findings had been forgotten.

Just like the countless scientists in the history of Earth, few of them were remembered and their stories sung like Newton or Einstein.

“I think so… I saw someone use their theorems, but I’m not sure!”

Bai Yu smiled.

Too many Mages had left findings and theorems. Most people could only remember the common formulas and weren’t aware of the less popular ones.

“You should be able to find them if that’s the case! Tell me their names and I’ll search for them!”

Geng Xing smiled.

He wouldn’t refuse to help a colleague as it wasn’t much trouble for him at all.

“Their names are… Ampere, Tesla, Einstein and Newton!” said Ms. Bai.

She carefully recalled Shen Zhe’s answer in the afternoon.

Although his answer was incorrect, he had written those names clearly. Was it possible that he had calculated the precise time through the formulas and theorems that those people left behind?

She found no answers after searching in the library for a whole afternoon. She went there after running out of choices.

“Tesla? Einstein?” Geng Xing frowned.

“Were they names at all?”

“Please have a try!” Ms. Bai blushed.

She didn’t know why she was interested in what a bad student wrote. Maybe it was because of his identical answer the day before, or his graceful and casual interpretation that day.

Nodding his head, Geng Xing stepped to the other side of the room, which was a gigantic and chilling wall made of white jade.

“Ampere!”

He pointed his finger at the wall, casting a streak of brightness to it.

It was magic!

BOOM!

The white jade trembled. Then, something magnificent and overwhelming bounced back from the wall.

Pu!

Geng Xing’s face was flushed as he was forced back. He abruptly spewed blood.

“What’s going on?”

Ms. Bai hurried to approach him and give him a hand.

“This Ampere is either unimaginably strong or has someone who is covering up for him. I am too weak to…”

Intense awe and fear oozed from Geng Xing’s eyes as he breathed hard.

“…to inquire his name!”
