Nikita

Chapter 130 - The Task Force

[NIKITA]

"Did you know that Qiao and Carrie set up a task force for you?" Morgana said to Nikita, who clearly wants aware of that fact. In their search for anything strange around the good doctor,  his loyal team had looked around.

They didn\'t want any surprises, and they didn\'t want to see the doctor hurt more than he already was. It was their way of protecting him,  but what of his own friends were conspiring against him? What if they had agreed to take over the company because they wanted it for themselves?

What if all this time they had been together, his friends had had ulterior motives? Nikita couldn\'t think straight, and he didn\'t know what to think of Qiao and Carrie betraying him. They had all gone through shit together; indeed, none of that was alien,  no?

He didn\'t want to imagine his friends standing him in the back.

No,  that couldn\'t be.

The soldiers couldn\'t have downed their tools to fight Nikita. However, what if that was the main aim from the beginning? Ikita had heard the rumors about the military wanting a stake in the Pavlenko company.

He had known the government and even other countries wanted to be part of Pavlenko,  but his parent wouldn\'t let that happen.

They had been diligent bosses as they had been surgeons. What if his best friends were the perfect tool for the Russian military to gain access and control of the company? But that didn\'t seem logical.

They all didn\'t go through all that trouble to get to their friend,  but what if? What if Nikita had been right all this while? What if he had listened to his doubts about trusting anyone but himself? What if?

Nikita was stranded.

He wanted to say there was more.

He wanted to defend them.

However,  why would his friends set up a task force for him? That was against everything in their friendship, or maybe they were never really friends in the first place, but fuċk, that would hurt a lot. He thought of his friends sleeping a few doors away from his bedroom.

They had no reason to investigate Nikita or even Pavlenko. This has to be a lie. First the wolf and now his friends? No,  he couldn\'t be that unlucky. Nikita refused to believe them, but when had Morgana and Rael ever lied to him?

Oh, God.

"A task force? Why would they do that?" Nikita asked curiously. He had already thought so much in the past hour that he didn\'t expect to be ambushed by more. What was it now?

"I asked that too. Every military operation is always under thousands of firewalls. Still, their task force and data are encrypted, sure, but all networks linked to the Rostova legion can access it. I don\'t understand," Morgana said defeatedly.

It was almost like there were forces against them, but then these forces were also out to protect the doctor. If they wanted to join the fight, the least they could do was allow themselves to join hands, but who are they even to know that.

However, in this case, they hoped for Nikita\'s sake that Carrie and Qiao weren\'t against him because that would break the doctor. It would leave him with a lot of pain, and no one would be able to snap him out this time, not even his mate.

"Wait, what\'s the name of the task force?" Nikita asked, like he was scared of the answers but still had to ask anyway. So much had happened in very few days, and if the people he trusted the most were against him, he needed to know. He needed to be aware, and maybe he would find a way to deal with it all.

"The MRP Taskforce, why?" Rael asked.

"MRP?" Nikita asked. Who even called a  fuċkɨnġ task force the MRP? Maybe because I had something to do with the military, but then Rael said the task force was dedicated to him, and there was only one possible meaning he could think of. Maybe he was wrong.

"I tried thinking of all the possible abbreviations, but the one I could think of was—" Rael said

"Mykolajki Rostova Pavlenko," Nikita completed simultaneously as Rael before they both went into silence. What else was there for Nikita to say anyway? That he was okay? That he was already beginning to have doubts?

He couldn\'t say that, and it wasn\'t even suitable to think so, considering the number of sacrifices his friend had made for him. However, a broken person like him who had nothing to live for wouldn\'t care, right? Oh, but he did.

He would be completely lost if they betrayed him, and Nikita couldn\'t afford that. Not when he was just starting to have a reason to live. He couldn\'t, and it was way too expensive.

"Why would they do that? And why would they make it public only to us?" Morgana asked, making Nikita let out a smile. If they wanted their operations hidden from the doctor, they could have done it and not have given the Rostova legion access.

His friends were not betraying him. They were helping him. They were trying to fix the mess. They were thrown to bring him back. To help him get over the pain, they tried to make the environment conducive to when Nikita finally decided to grieve.

That is what they were doing.

"To keep the transparency," Rael said, and Nikita just facepalmed and let out a sigh of relief. They cared about him, and that is all that mattered. That is all the ȧssurance he needed that he wasn\'t alone. The heavens had given him a good bunch of friends, and he would always be thankful for them. Always.

"Again, don\'t worry too much. Tell Kyle to look into Arya Knight tomorrow. I will do the same. As for the task force, I\'ll take care of it myself," Nikita said reassuringly. They didn\'t have to worry about his friends.

Now that Nikita was out of the hospital, he would go after the man who had offered three hundred million for the virus. He would acquire it, and hopefully, he would be able to get the people behind all of this.

The eye they had gotten from Liam didn\'t give them much. It was a dead-end, but at least they were sure someone was trying so hard to make people believe Nikita was crazy, and he didn\'t care anymore.

Tomorrow he would try to unmask the chaos that was Arya Knight and get what she wanted from him. Maybe he could set up a meeting with Arya through somehow he was sure the woman would be a no show.

"Alright, boss," Morgana said

"Should I come over?" Nikita asked worriedly. His people were hurt, that too by a woman who they knew nothing about. He had relaxed earlier, but he still needed to see if they were okay on their own. Nikita had already told them that he was just a notification ping away.

"No, we\'ll be fine," Rael said reassuringly even though she had busted everything.

"Okay, goodnight," Nikita said before hanging up.
