Nikita

Chapter 111 - He Came Home

[NIKITA]

The doors to the base garage opened, and through it came the man of the hour, the man whose people had been waiting hopelessly for, for three days. The man that had been seeing on the news but didn\'t care one bit to defend himself.

They were looking at their savior, the man they would cross the seven seas for. Their handsome savior, Nikita Pavlenko. He had finally shown up, like a prodigal son returning home, and his people couldn\'t have been any happier. This right here was what their heaven looked like.

Nikita was met with joy, love, and laughter as he drove in, something that he never thought he would ever be able to experience again. They had surrounded him, not allowing him space to breathe.

They had truly missed him, like a mother to her children, only that Nikita, he was their guardian and their father. That was a title they had given him when Nikita had told them just to call him by his name.

How were they supposed to refer to the man who had given them a second chance at life when no one was willing to give it to them? He was special to them, and they had never failed to remind him of that.

Even though it was unknown to his people, Nikita had seen the thank you videos they had sent on the internet.

It was something that the legion valued with their lives because it reminded them of a man who had brought them off the streets, all a hundred of them and lived them, taught them and trained them to be soldiers, before taking them back to school and explaining to them that there was more to life than being pitiful.

He had given them a second chance, and they would never be able to forget it.

Not ever.

they looked so happy, smiling like they had been waiting for so long to see Nikita. He could tell they had a lot to say and buy the genuine smiles on their faces; Nikita could see they were also grateful that he was okay.

Part of the reason the doctor had chosen the Harley Davidson over the beautiful cars in his garage was to drive here and show his people that he was okay and unharmed. This was the only way to ensure they were reassured and didn\'t feel like they had somewhat screwed up in their lifetimes.

"C\'mon guys, let the boss breathe," Kyle said on the intercom when he saw that they weren\'t giving Nikita any space.

The doctor wasn\'t complaining though, as a matter of fact, he was reaching their smiles, loving the sincerity around him. They made him feel like surviving was the best choice he had made. They valued him; they would never fail to show him that.

Even Morgana and Rael, the crudest of the lot, had relaxed and were actually smiling. No one outside the legion ever saw the two women smile, and they always had constant frowns and murderous looks, and yet here and now, they were relaxed, wearing smiles in places of their signature smirks.

"Just leave them be, Kyle. I missed them too," Nikita said as he hopped off his bike. He didn\'t even have to park it because the excited bunch would park his ride for him. These people had privileges no one ever thought of.

No one ever touched Nikita\'s baby, and there they were, being allowed to park his birthday gift, his favorite of the gifts. They indeed held a special place in the doctor\'s heart.

Anyone who looked at them could wonder what was so important about the doctor that even the ȧduŀts had transformed into kids with smiles around Nikita.

It was a hilarious show outside of these walls, and people were criticizing him, making him be the wrong person and the unhinged doctor. While I was here, he was like a king.

Life honestly had its surprises.

"How have you been?"

"Are you okay?"

"Does it hurt? anywhere?"

"Do we need to come up with a remedy?"

"Are you sure you\'re okay?"

"How are you?"

The questions kept coming, and Nikita just smiled at them. Of course, he knew they were worried, but he loved them too much too. He adored this bunch of people. They were loyal to him and could walk the fires if he wanted them to. That much he knew and didn\'t have a doubt ever.

Anyone would think that since there were hundreds of them, it was easy for them to betray him, but no one in their proper sense would even try betraying Nikita, but Samantha had. And he would deal with her later.

"I am okay; how about you guys? Are you okay? How were the tropicals? Was Canada too cold? Colder than Russia? And you, how did you cope in Kenya? Was everything as planned?" Nikita asked them, and it was their turn to smile at him.

He always did this. The thing that even brought them closer to each other was that Nikita knew where they all were and knew who they were all fairing. He would occasionally call them to ask them how they were doing and how their studies were fighting.

He would even ask them if their allowances were enough, and even though it was always more than enough, the good doctor would always top up for them. That was something he had developed over the years, and he wasn\'t about to let it all go away.

When he had created this team, Nikita had promised himself that he would never let them down. They were his people, and he would always show up for them. It didn\'t matter that the world would despise them; he had promised to protect them.

He had promised to make their lives better, and the young Pavlenko had kept his promise. He had loved them, adored them, called them between his shifts just to know who they were doing. He was more like a pregnant woman than a big brother.

He would do anything for his people, and everyone in here knew that.

"Come on guys, let him breathe now. Y\'know he won\'t send you away, but he needs a break and breaking space," Kyle insisted, and they finally listened to him. Kyle had a point, and they could overwhelm the good doctor.

He was their link to love and humanity. Even though he had always spent more time in the OR, Nikita always found a way to reach out to them. That is what a parent did. And he was a parent of a hundred strangers who had turned into a family.

Nikita loved these people with all of his heart.

Maybe just for today, he would postpone his plans for Samantha. He would go after the woman later, or he would send a few of the top officials of the Rostova legion to go and deal with her.

Besides, there was nothing so special about her, right?
