As it was almost dark, Yun Wei went into the bathroom, planning to take a good bath before getting a good night’s sleep. She wanted to build up her energy in order to deal with that trashy couple.

Yun Wei felt comforted and revived as the hot water swished over her body.

And the rich, soapy bath foam lifted her spirits.

With happy abandon, she found a tune and started humming quietly.

The sound of the running water in the bathroom drowned out the sound of someone knocking at the front door.

Lu Zhanting waited a full three minutes at the door, but no one came to open it.

He frowned.

The personal attendant quickly said, “Sir, Miss Yun is now your tenant. She’s living in this unit of yours.”

Lu Zhanting’s luggage was at his feet.

From the way he was standing, it looked like he was determined to move in with Yun Wei.

His personal attendant wasted no time and immediately extracted a key. A few seconds later, the front door was unlocked.

Lu Zhanting waited for his assistant to lug his luggage into the apartment before taking large strides inside the unit.

Mindful that he was no longer needed, the personal attendant immediately left the apartment, pulling the door shut behind him.

Lu Zhanting took a quick look around inside. Although he was the legal owner of this property, he’d never lived here before.

If it hadn’t been for Yun Wei moving in, he probably never would’ve stepped foot here his entire life.

However, now that he was here, this apartment didn’t seem bad at all.

It seemed more cozy and warm now that it was filled with a hint of fresh fragrance from the young woman living in the unit.

He walked toward the table in the dining room and picked up two sheets of paper.

They contained drawings that Yun Wei had made of her jewelry.

The same jewelry that Bai Wenping and Hua Shasha had scammed off her.

Lu Zhanting remembered how desperate Bai Wenping and Hua Shasha had looked when they’d gone about raising the money to repurchase the jewelry in question.

Yun Wei’s smiling eyes floated into his mind.

In those smiling eyes of hers, Lu Zhanting had noticed a flash of devious scheming, and that look was now burned in his mind.

Lu Zhanting’s lips curled into a smile.

Some people were soon going to suffer now that this little kitten had woken up.

But he was very curious to find out the extent to which this little kitten planned on toying with the two rats.

He then walked toward the bedroom. Since the door was ajar, he entered the bedroom without a second thought.

The moment Lu Zhangtin stepped foot inside her bedroom, Yun Wei realized someone was in her unit.

On full alert, she silently stepped out of the bathtub and pulled on her bathrobe.

As a smart young woman who’d only just recovered and woken up from a hurtful relationship, she knew how to protect herself.

She was going to call the police, but then she realized that she’d left her phone in the wardrobe cabinet.

But Yun Wei was unfazed.

She immediately found a weapon at hand—a mop—and held it in her hands.

The moment Lu Zhanting stepped foot into the bedroom, he was attacked.

A mop came crashing down on his head.

Had it not been for his quick reflexes and agility, which enabled him to dodge the weapon, he definitely would’ve been hit.

In retaliation, he grabbed at the mop and pinned Yun Wei to the wall.

Fortunately, he recognized Yun Wei just in time and withdrew his clenched fist. If he hadn’t, Yun Wei would’ve ended up with a bloodied face.

On the other hand, Yun Wei hadn’t yet made out that the intruder was Lu Zhanting.

Her sweet voice filled with anger, she shouted, “Hey, you. Let go of me! I’ve already called the police. They should be here any minute now! You still have time to run for it. If you don’t, you’ll be sentenced to at least three years!”

Despite her bold yelling, she was actually feeling very nervous.

It stood to reason that she’d timed and positioned herself at the right angle for her attack against the intruder, so there was no way he could’ve possibly dodged it.

However, not only had he escaped the attack, but he had turned the tables on her and retaliated.

Although Yun Wei was fearless, she was nonetheless a young girl, so, after threatening the intruder and not getting a response from him, she grew frazzled.
