Mr. Lu, the World's Sweetest Man

Chapter 46

“But Yun Wei, you…” Hua Shasha persisted in speaking further.

But the teacher had already made up his mind. “Since Yun Wei is well, she should go. Come on, let’s go. Everyone else, please return to your classrooms.”

Yun Wei and Jian Zhifei followed the teacher and walked away.

Hua Shasha stamped her foot in fury as she watched them walk away, but there was absolutely nothing she could do.

Very soon, Jian Zhifei and Yun Wei arrived at the school’s conference room.

It was a huge conference room, and many of the school’s leaders, the directors, and students from the other classes were already seated.

The seat next to Lu Zhanting was empty. He had placed his briefcase on it.

Many of the female students tried to take that seat, but, because of the briefcase and the intimidating, standoffish vibes Lu Zhanting put out, they just circled around him and went in search of alternative seats.

When Yun Wei walked in, Lu Zhanting’s eyes quickly locked onto her.

As Yun Wei walked slowly toward him, Lu Zhanting removed his briefcase with an expressionless face, making the seat available for her.

And that was how Yun Wei came to sit next to him.

Very quickly, the meeting commenced with an agenda that was no different from what the teachers usually discussed; matters that were of no interest to, and did not concern, Lu Zhanting or Yun Wei.

Many of the female students weren’t focused on the discussion, choosing to gawk lustfully at Lu Zhanting’s face or body instead.

If Lu Zhanting were a flavor of ice-cream in a display cupboard, he would surely be the kind that would be the first to sell out and be gobbled up by everyone.

Lu Zhanting pushed the cup in his hand gently at Yun Wei. “Coffee, thank you,” he said.

What he meant was that he wanted Yun Wei to get him some coffee.

There was a pantry next to the conference room. Since Lu Zhanting had made plain his request, Yun Wei could only step up and play the good host.

In fact, when students attended these seminars, they were expected to ensure that the directors and others were well looked after.

Yun Wei walked into the pantry and poured a cupful of hot coffee.

But before she could pick up the cup and head back to the conference room, she felt someone standing behind her.

And before she could turn around to find out who it was, they caught her by the waist.

The familiar scent and sensation made Yun Wei felt a sense of calm rather than panic.

It was Lu Zhanting.

Turning around, she smiled, “Were you that worried about me? You didn’t think I’d be able to handle Hua Shasha and Bai Wenping?”

“What, I’m not welcomed?” Lu Zhanting wrapped his arms around her waist, pulling her soft, slender body against him.

Smiling, Yun Wei looked out the window, saying, “Aren’t you aware that many of the female students are just dying to tear away your suit off and eat you alive.”

Lu Zhanting detected a trace of cleverly masked jealousy in her words.

Excellent. His little woman had started to experience jealousy where he was concerned.

Lips curled, he asked, “What about you? Do you want to eat me alive?”

“Of course not,” Yun Wei hastened to clarify, but a tell-tale blush had already spread across her face.

“But I detect a waft of sour jealousy.” Lu Zhanting screwed up his nose. “Very jealous,” he said.

Yun Wei had to admit that she was a tad uncomfortable with the way so many of the female students openly fantasized about him. Some of them were especially daring with their explicit remarks.

However, she had enough self-confidence to not let her mood be affected by the comments made by a few ordinary people.

But then, unbeknownst even to herself, she’d begun to care and worry about losing what she had.

This feeling wasn’t something that she’d ever experienced before.

Maybe, in her past relationship with Bai Wenping, she hadn’t really cared for him. He had been very persistent, pursuing her for a very long time, and in the end, she had relented because she’d run out of excuses.

Whatever it was she used to feel for Bai Wenping, it definitely wasn’t love.

That was why, when she saw Hua Shasha and Bai Wenping rolling around together, all she’d felt was anger and a sense of betrayal, and not the kind of hopelessness she would’ve felt if she’d been in love with him.

Yun Wei looked exceedingly enchanting as she stood, deep in thought, bathed in the warm sunshine.
