I have Nine Lives

Chapter 181: The war (8)

Binela looked at Marquina and asked her:

"Do you think we should still fight for these people?"

Marquina fought within her mind for a bit before coming to an answer.

Obviously, it wasn\'t really worth fighting for them, while they were rather exalted as the strong women of their race. Those above them could still do whatever they wanted to them.

Just how the twins easily got their way with Marquina even though she didn\'t really want to.

"But can we really escape them, Binela?"

Binela snorted as she said:

"Of course we can, Marshallo wouldn\'t really care, and he is the top power in our race."

"Are you sure?"

Marquina didn\'t have much contact with Marshallo as she was the youngest prodigy of their race that reached the level of an upper echelon. She only had rumors and stories about him, but in all of them, he seemed to be a man that wouldn\'t accept traitors and that he was rather a patriotic person.

"Don\'t think that what you have heard about him is true as he is only protective towards the weaklings of our race and for being patriotic? *Snort* The only thing he is patriotic about is our races fighting techniques."

"Hmm..."

"Don\'t think about it too much. Even if we break away from the army, Marshallo won\'t stop us. He has already fought me until he was satisfied, as for you. You are too weak to enter in his eyes."

"Is he really that easy to satisfy? At his strength, I thought he would have a more complicated thought process.."

"Not really. The stronger the males of our race get, the more they are absorbed by the will to fight."

"...."

Marquina didn\'t know what to say to that information as she shook her head and asked:

"Do you really think we will be left alone if we defect?"

Marquina knew the strength of their teammates, so she was sure that while Binela would be able to escape. The same wouldn\'t be said for her.

Binela didn\'t bother to respond again. She knew that Marquina was scared only because of her inadequate strength.

Her eyes targeted the unmoving Felix. His purple aura was slowly transforming into golden orange, and she just couldn\'t take her eyes away from the transformation. It was just so beautiful, and these types of things could rarely be viewed as most experts secluded themselves when they broke through.

It was a mesmerizing view which Marshallo was enjoying as well.

His silhouette appeared near an observing window in the same room that the others revived in. He obviously knew that Felix was currently making a breakthrough, but he didn\'t stop him at all. Not because he couldn\'t do it but because he didn\'t want to.

His blood was boiling in his veins as he looked at Felix\'s transformation, he would have been a worthy opponent before, but now he could become an opponent that could push him to his full power!

He could feel the heart in his chest. Beating quicker than before while his blood boiled in his veins.

He almost couldn\'t control his power anymore.

He also obviously knew about what Binela and Marquina were plotting from the side as he could sense that they weren\'t attacking Felix while he was making his breakthrough.

However, that was also something that he wanted, so he didn\'t really care about what they wanted with him, as long as he got to fight him afterward.

The only ones who had a problem with the current situation were the twins.

They didn\'t stay idle even though Marshallo gave the women duo the second chance to fight Felix.

While they taught the lightning armor technique to Marshallo, they had also put a special tracker on Marquina, unknown to her. So they could observe the fight between the duo and Felix with front row seats.

But they came to hear about the duo\'s defection idea, and this made them rather angry. Unlike Marshallo, Binela, and Marquina, who actually came from humble roots. The twins were of the royal blood of the highest degree and also military consultants.

They were loyalists to the empire the royal bloodline had created, and they enjoyed high-level benefits. Especially if they were the ones that spearheaded the invasions against lower leveled civilizations.

It was obvious they were ready to rat out the duo\'s plans, but they didn\'t seem to have the courage to report that, while Marshallo was seemingly enjoying himself watching the space through the window.

But they heaved a sigh in unison as they gathered courage and slowly came closer to Marshallo, dropping to one knee in respect and saying slowly:

"High general Marshallo, I have got some information that you should be privy to. It might affect the outcome of this invasion if you don\'t look at it and give the appropriate order."

Marshallo made a \'hmm\' sound as he took one step away from the window and looked at the kneeling twins.

"What type of information is it?"

Marshallo asked with a dull tone. His eyes flickered as he looked at the twin\'s half bodies as he thought about something.

"It\'s information of the highest order of betrayal, high general, please look at this!"

The twins took out a small sphere of energy, which they threw to the side, where it expanded into a small mirror-like device.

On the mirror were the faces of Binela and Marquina, and the audio was working perfectly. It seemed they were still contemplating if they should defect or not. At least Marquina was.

"Do you see high general? They are both traitorous whores that should be executed for their actions! They want to elope with the target and defect the army!"

"This is a crime worthy of the highest punishments, sir. You should know about it the best."

Marshallo\'s eyes started to flicker with a high level of energy after he heard the words \'You should know about it the best.\'

It seemed his past wasn\'t anything easy to swallow, and the twins somehow brought it up.

The twins immediately realized that they made a mistake as the two halves scrambled to different sides, trying to dodge whatever was going to come.

The duo realized they misspoke as they saw Marshallo\'s gaze. But they were puzzled as there was actually no physical reaction besides his gaze changing a little bit.

Was Marshallo refraining from attacking them because of their position in the royal family? No, that was not it...

Sweat dripped down from the brows of the half bodies as they scurried to different parts of the room, trying to make themselves as small as possible. They felt almost as if they were antelopes in the face of hungry lions. There was nothing they could do as they were boxed in a small corner where the lions would pounce on them and transform them into their lunch.

It was the fear created by the difference in power level, the difference in the structural life level of individuals.

Technically speaking, Marshallo was just built differently.

Marshallo shook his head as he looked at the sorry mess that the twins became after he leaked some of his aura as it was impossible to fully control himself- while Felix was out there getting stronger.

"I don\'t want to hear about this ever again, do you two understand?"

The half nodded so quickly that the room they were in started to shake before they rejoined into one person and left the room, not trying to get on Marshallo\'s bad side ever again.

Marshallo sighed as he went back to the window and looked at the ever-increasing aura tower.

************************

Felix stood under the aura tower that was automatically increasing as he breathed in and out. His energy levels spiked so far that if someone tried to detect them with a specially made technological device, it would explode into smithereens.

Felix was sitting cross-legged in space while he was seemingly unaware of everything that was happening around him. But his spirit was always looking around, trying to identify any attempts on his life.

Of course, he had identified Binela and Marquina standing quite far away from him as his senses had improved once more while he was breaking through. However, he became puzzled why they were just observing, and not attacking him now while he was at his weakest...

Since they didn\'t do it, Felix continued his breakthrough as the tower of orange energy slowly morphed into a pillar that exploded in space, creating a beautiful image that spread to all of the surveillance cameras of the surviving ships. The blossoming image was so huge that even those on the nearby planet could see it.

*******

The president\'s lone eye opened wide as he looked at the after-effect of Felix\'s breakthrough. His lip was twitching as he realized that Felix had grown farther than they could control him. But he wasn\'t sad nor angry because of that, he saw hope, the hope of surviving, and maybe even mounting a perfect counterattack!

He tried to contact Felix by the connection he had with Vangar\'s absorbed soul. Only to realize that it was impossible now.

Not because Felix was declining the connection. But because he wasn\'t able to connect with him anymore due to the different strength wavelength.

The president sighed as he looked around at the hopeful eyes of the people around him, and he didn\'t say anything as he looked at the tall monitor that was still fully orange due to the color explosion from Felix\'s breakthrough. He only hoped for the best to happen now.
