Give Me Your Hands and Marry Me

Chapter 313 - The Midnight Horror

Yaya held Xiaoxiao and was sleeping soundly, with her hips up. When A Miao saw her in the video, Xiaoxiao also raised his paw, as if to say hello to her.

“Yaya…” A Miao covered her mouth and whimpered. “I’m Mom…”

Shen Xinglan reached out and touched the screen. “She remembers you. I show her your picture every night, and tell her this is her mother.”

“Hm.” A Miao wiped her tears away. “She seems to be taller and fatter.”

“She eats a lot, like a pig.” Shen Xinglan smiled and said with dissatisfaction, “You became thinner. Don’t get too tired.”

A Miao pursed her mouth, and only in front of Shen Xinglan did she have such a look. “I am not tired. I could not put on weight easily before!”

After one hour of talking about trivial matters, A Miao remembered the question. “Did you go back to City S… No, it’s not like our home.”

The bed that Yaya slept in the video, was not the bed at home.

“Not yet. It’s too cold now. We’ll go back when spring comes!” Shen Xinglan smiled at her. “We just arrived at an island in the South yesterday.”

A Miao nodded. “Well, it’s cold in Jingcheng City. I wear my down jacket when I go out.”

“Hm, wear more clothes to keep warm. Don’t get sick.”

Then there was another hour of mutual care, including hearing more, “Get more rest”, and even about taking baths. When she heard that, He Shishi felt a bit nauseated.

“She’s asleep.” He Shishi did not know how long she had been sleeping on the sofa, and she found that A Miao was asleep, with the cell phone on.

And Shen Xinglan was lying in bed, looking at A Miao through the video.

“Hang up.” The man gestured with his arm. “Help her call the Lan family. She’ll sleep with you tonight.”

He Shishi curled her lip. “Why didn’t you think that you will need my help, when you said I was rough…”

“I know,” She said unhappily, “by the way, where do you live?”

Shen Xinglan helped cover Yaya with the quilt. “I bought a villa in the southern suburbs.” After that, he continued to say in a disgusting tone, “Don’t tell A Miao. And you can’t stay there for too long.”

“I see.” He Shishi hung up. “Hmph, I planned to leave tomorrow, but I’ll stay a few more days now!”

A Miao woke up in the morning, and jumped out of bed abruptly.

“Oh, no!” She hurriedly looked for her cell phone, picked it up and found that there were no missed calls.

He Shishi came in, wearing a face pack. “I called the Lan family last night and said that we played too late. You drank some wine, and fell asleep here with me.”

“Who answered the phone?”

“A man called Fu Bo, is he the housekeeper?”

A Miao sighed with relief. “Well, I have go back now. I don’t know if Elder Master Lan is angry.”

“He shouldn’t be. I told them who I am. He should know about me.” He Shishi handed her the coat. “Would you like to have breakfast?”

“No.” A Miao washed her face. “I didn’t go home last night! I’d better go back soon…”

He Shishi shrugged her shoulders. “It’s normal to have Ouyang Jin send you.”

Ouyang Jin sent A Miao back to the Lan house, and happened to see Lan Lixiao who was back after his morning exercise.

A Miao didn’t know if the old man was angry. She called out to him nervously. “Grandpa…”

Lan Lixiao nodded and glanced at Ouyang Jin. “Did Ouyang stay with you last night?”

“Yes, Elder Master!” Ouyang Jin got out of the car and clutched his hair. “You don’t know that He Shishi is a madwoman. She pulled A Miao to drink. So A Miao was drunk after a glass of wine.”

Lan Lixiao became more relaxed and patted Ouyang Jin’s shoulder. “It seems that you are the most pitiful person!”

“Yes!” Ouyang Jin cried exaggerately “It’s hard to send two drunk women back to the hotel. A Miao was okay. She was sleeping all the time. But the other one… Well, I don’t want to talk about her.”

Lan Lixiao burst out laughing. “Come on, let’s have breakfast. I want to thank you for looking after A Miao!”

“Grandpa!” A Miao shyly tugged at his sleeve. “I won’t drink anymore.”

“Well, you should be careful since you know you’re not good at drinking.” Lan Lixiao pulled her into the house. “Later, if your aunt says something, don’t take it to heart. She is doing this because she means well!”

A Miao helped him up the steps. “Hm, I understand!”

However, A Miao did not see Lan Qin until she finished dinner in the evening, and saw her coming back from outside.

“Follow me.” Lan Qin looked a little tired.

A Miao looked at Lan Lixiao, and Elder Master blinked at her.

It meant that she could go with ease. It was okay…

It was still in the beautiful little study that was ornately decorated. Lan Qin asked her as soon as she entered, “Do you like Ouyang Jin?”

A Miao quickly shook her head. “I don’t like him…”

“Does he like you?”

“He… also probably doesn’t like me!” After that, she felt that was inappropriate and added. “After all, I heard he is a playboy.”

Lan Qin squinted at her.” So you dare go out drinking with him? Did you forget what I taught you?”

“It’s not just him…” A Miao explained in an affected manner. “There was He Shishi.”

Lan Qin frowned. “You and He Shishi have just known each other for a day, right? You actually dare to allow her to get you drunk. Aren’t you afraid of her bad intentions? What if she was bought over by Li Rong?”

“… No… No way.” A Miao lowered her head and whispered.

“Anything can happen in this world.” Lan Qin’s voice suddenly became impatient. “You made such a big mistake. If you had met with an accident last night, the Lan family will be laughed at by others.”

A Miao tried hard to squeeze out tears, and finally raised her head, her nose a little red. “Sorry… Sorry, I promise I will not do this again.”

Lan Qin rubbed at the space between her eyebrows and said, “I have to punish you. You’d better not go out during this period of time, until spring begins.”

“Okay, I know!”

He Shishi was very sorry when she heard that A Miao was forbidden from going out.

“I also wanted to stay with you for a few more days. In that case, I’ll go now.”

A Miao rolled around in bed for two laps. “Will you go back to City S?”

“I’ll go to Europe first, and return to City S next month.” He Shishi said to her, “You have to be careful. You may die if you create a little trouble in the Lan family.”

“Do not worry! I will be careful.”

After He Shishi left, A Miao’s life became more monotonous, playing chess and talking with Lan Lixiao every day. Ouyang Jin seemed to have left with He Shishi, and did not even call her.

This situation did not change until the Mid-Autumn Festival came. At midnight, because A Miao ate nothing at dinner, she woke up, due to hunger and went downstairs to find something to eat.

“Clap!”

When she was about to enter the kitchen, she heard a noise at the door.

“Who is there?” A Miao vigilantly turned on the lights in the living room.

But she didn’t find anyone.

She walked slowly towards the door, but suddenly a man rushed out behind the sofa, and covered her mouth before she could speak.

“Purr, purr…” A Miao struggled to remove the man’s hand.

There was a low laugh in her ear.

“Are you… Lan Miao?”

A Miao opened her eyes wide, and made the “purr” sound twice.

When the man let go of her, A Miao was about to shout, when she heard him say.

“You look like my eldest brother.”

Though A Miao opened her mouth, she did not make any sound. She saw a young face under the light, which resembled Lan Lixiao, when he was young.

“You… You…” She stammered, and didn’t know what to say.

The man laughed, but the smile presented by his eyes and eyebrows was insincere. His handsome facial features made her feel cold, and even his voice was heartless and cold, like a cold wind had blown through the room.

“I’m your fourth uncle, if you’re my niece…”

Blue Heng was the Fourth Young Master in the Lan family! A Miao tried to control her emotion, and began to speak when she felt her voice was back to normal.

“Fourth uncle?” She covered her chest. “You… You scared me to death.”

Blue Heng looked at her. “You don’t look too scared.”

“Should my face be pale?” A Miao said angrily, “Then you should change into white clothes next time!”

“Fourth Young Master?” Uncle Fu suddenly ran in from the side door. “You’re back!”

Lan Heng threw his overcoat on the sofa. “I just got off the plane. It’s too late to wake Dad up. I’ll see him tomorrow.”

“Miss Elder, what’s the matter?” Uncle Fu saw that A Miao’s expression was not normal.

“I’m fine, Uncle Fu.” A Miao showed a forced smile. “I’m going upstairs to rest first!”

After she left, Lan Heng loosened his tie. “When I just came back, she came downstairs and was frightened by me.”

“Hahh!” Uncle Fu laughed. “Miss Elder is lovely. Elder Master likes her very much!”

Blue Heng sneered. “You don’t need to remind me how to treat her. Though my father likes her, it doesn’t mean that I have to accept her.”

“Fourth Young Master…”

Lan Heng raised his hand to interrupt him. “I want to get over the jet lag. I’ll go and have a rest first.”

He took his luggage to the door, turned around and said, “By the way, if I don’t come tomorrow morning, nobody should wake me up.”

I see, Fourth Young Master…”

After A Miao returned to the room, she found her hands trembling. She turned around several times in the room. She thought a while, and then took out her cell phone to send a message to Ouyang Jin.

“Lan Heng is back.”

Ouyang Jin quickly replied. “When?”

“Ten minutes ago.”

“I know. I will go and find you tomorrow.”

Later, A Miao never did go back to sleep. She did not know whether she was cold or was frightened… and she had caught a cold.

On the contrary, she was glad, because at least she did not have to go downstairs and face Lan Heng.

“She must have been scared by that guy last night!” Lan Lixiao ran up to see her. Seeing A Miao’s runny nose and pale face, he thought it was Lan Heng’s fault.

“Grandpa, I’m fine.” A Miao sniffed. “I’ve taken the medicine.”

Uncle Fu put down the porridge cooked by auntie. “You have to eat something, or you’ll have no strength.”

A Miao waved her hand. “Uncle Fu, I don’t want to eat. I just want to sleep.”

“Yes, yes!” Lan Lixiao helped her to lie down. “Sleep, you’ll be fine, after you take a nap.”

A Miao lay down and watched the two old men leaving the room. Then she sent a message to Ouyang Jin and told him not to come over today, and promptly fell asleep.

But Ouyang Jin thought it would be more appropriate to look for her, so he visited A Miao in the afternoon, and happened to enter the door, at the same time as Lan Heng.

“Ouyang Jin?” Blue Heng was very surprised to see him. “When did the God of gamblers come to Jingcheng City?”

Ouyang Jin blinked. “I’m pursuing your niece.”

“…” Lan Heng realized that he was talking about Lan Miao.
