Enter, The Walking Dead

Chapter 10 - Decisions

After a few days of patrols around the centre and the general surroundings, usually taking different groups of people with us from the many people that were attending the event or that we saved from off of the streets, mostly the group would consist of 40 trained guards, and 10 other people, that were of age, usually picked at random from a list that was made, though nobody was chosen twice unless they volunteered to be so until it cycled through everybody.

I would also attend most of the outings especially if there were people in the group that interested me in the slightest. I have to admit that It was kinda amusing to see Rihanna lose her shit when she had to put down her first walker but thankfully she didn't go crazy, just all weepy and cried for a while, mostly silently.

We mostly raided the surrounding area for food and clothes as well as other necessities since while we were stocked for a few days worth, it wouldn't last very long if the other half of the plan didn't come to fruition since we actually managed to help hundreds of extra people, though I had no reason to believe that would be the case. My brother was quite competent. It shows with how well he put together the different teams as well as the efficiency of them.

Once we cleared most of the walkers in the area we also cleared many of the stores of already made goods that we might not have access to for a while, thankfully we had shopping carts all over the area so it's not like it was carried by hand. But things like the bakery and that cake store we ran across were cleared out quickly since they wouldn't last long anyways.

That was done around noon on the second day. When we did stuff like that larger groups would go since we simply needed more hands than weapons after the walkers were already cleared, but I think everyone appreciated the yumm yumms even if they were still afraid for themselves and their families that weren't with them on the day this all started.

After things were settled a bit later on the second day I had to make a decision, obviously I couldn't keep so many people here against their will as that was a lose/lose situation. Though nobody really voiced such opinions, as I never actually said people couldn't leave, it could easily be seen that way since i controlled all the guns and people carrying them. People are fickle like that.

So I addressed the group using the video system. Thankfully power hasn't yet abandoned us quite yet and we also have a generator that would last a day or 2 if we are careful. But essentially I gave them the option to stay with the group, that others were coming to pick us up in another day or 2 or they can make their own way in this new and terrifying world we find ourselves in. Or they can stay here if they want after we have gone and still do their own thing and no hard feelings.

It was obvious quite a few people, those who haven't been able to get through to their families through their cell phones anyways were anxious, as we were still early in the outbreak and not even the entire world was effected yet at least not completely, many were able to get in touch and warn them what was happening, though communication was spotty, it still worked often enough to be useful. Those that lived close though, most of them felt the need to go search for their loved ones.

The government was still trying to downplay what is going on throughout the world but at least they deployed the national guard for whatever good that will do anyways. As it obviously failed the the television show i didn't hold much hope for it.

The news was next to useless as they mostly just told people to stay in their homes and report to the local authorities if anyone was sick or infected. Kinda useless but whatever. Government is definitely covering this up as best they can. This is most likely why the world completely fell, the government of this universes United States was more useless than our own government.

I did though, upload some videos on what has been going on here to YouTube and some of the other social media apps or websites.

Anyways with all that information out there I also offered, that if their immediate family members could get to us from wherever they are, that they could also come. That would appease a lot of the people here especially the locals who had family but those that came from out of state or out of the country knew that they most likely wouldn't survive trying to travel hundreds of miles or in some cases thousands as we did have a few kpop groups in attendance.

Sadly out of the nearly 2500 or so people in the centre, not including the security, about 400 or so of them decided to take their chances and make their own way, either in small groups or on their own. Most of them wanted to leave immediately to find their families as most of them leaving were locals. Now that they got their shit together, they want to go find their important people, if they are still alive, and bring them back here. If we are still here by then anyways.

Funny enough, very few of the celebrities decided to do so, you wouldn't think it but you really do have to be somewhat smart to do their jobs. And they knew their best shot of survival, at least temporarily, was probably with me and my security. They seen what we could do with their own eyes which was the main reason for the excursions into the local area. That and cake, everyone loves cake!
