Descent of the Demon God

Chapter 9

The situation was very dire for the Public Security Bureau Agents on the scene. And now, the crowds watching from nearby had run away to a safe distance once the guns had been fired.

“He has two PSB agents as hostages!”

“This man is a serious criminal!”

PSB police officers were the symbol of the Chinese Government, and the defender of the public. And to normal citizens, Chun Yeowun, who was threatening such a group, was an evil menace himself. But the crowd couldn’t do much other than to hide and watch silently as the scene progressed.

-S-Squad leader! What should we do?!

-Wouldn’t you be in danger also?!

Squad Leader Wiyang heard his snipers asking through his earpiece. They seemed to be extremely worried about how the situation had turned out.

“Dammit! Stand by! Stand by!”

Lieutenant Sopyung became frustrated as he ordered his men to stand down for the moment. He had not considered his squad leader also being captured as hostage. There were 30 snipers aiming at one target, and 40 Tactical Force units barricading the area. There was no way he would imagine such a situation at all.

“Tactical Team! Move back 50 meters!”

With Sopyung’s order, all units from the Tactical Team began to move backward. They couldn’t stay close and give a chance for the enemy to grab more hostages.

‘It’s not something we can handle. We should’ve called the 5th Strike Force.’

The 5th Strike Force was unique in all special tactical forces of the PSB. They were created to handle criminals with unique and supernatural abilities such as Yulinians. And of course, they should’ve been requested even if it was quite late.

‘But they’re on a mission right now…!’

It was unfortunate that the 5th Strike Force was dispatched on another mission just an hour ago. This had to be done by the 3rd Tactical Forces.

-What should we do, sir?

-Are we acting per manual?

Of course, they were all trained on situations where allies were held as hostages. They were talking about sacrificing the said ally to minimize the damage and casualties.

‘Dammit!’

But it wasn’t easy as it sounded. It wasn’t just a few days that Sopyung had spent time with his leader. It was years that he had worked with him for countless missions. It wasn’t easy to order his team to sacrifice such a man.

‘Squad Leader…’

And as he was hesitating, Wiyang, who was being held by Chun Yeowun’s hand, calmed himself.

‘Let’s calm down. I have to find a way out.’

It wasn’t a good idea to push the man threatening his own life in the wrong direction, but he had to do something or else he was going to end up dying altogether.

“U…ugh… ta…taking us as hostages… won’t going to make… you win here.”

It was not a sound decision to taunt the criminal, but this man seemed terrifyingly calm. It was certain that this man was not being moved by emotions. If the target had clear thoughts, Wiyang thought it was better to explain the situation he was in.

“Even… if you have me… a squad leader… you won’t get away… from all bullets…”

“…”

His words were met with no response. Wiyang became frustrated but he couldn’t show his weakness here.

“We… cannot be taken as hostages… we… are ordered… to sacrifice hostages… if it doesn’t work.”

This was his bet on the situation. He told the target that hostages had no meaning at this point. He wasn’t sure what this man would do when hearing this, but it seemed to at least work to let this man know more about the situation. That’s when Chun Yeowun spoke the unexpected.

“Are you saying that because of your 30 men?”

“What?”

“Those who are aiming at me.”

‘?!’

Wiyang’s eyes grew large with shock.

‘How… does he know?!’

He was so shocked that he almost reacted emotionally. The Tactical Forces barricading the area was visible, so it was no surprise even if Chun Yeowun knew how many there were, but the snipers were a different story. There were countless lasers aiming at his body, but if he didn’t look behind to check the number of snipers, there was no way he could know how many were aiming at him.

‘W-what is this man…?!’

This was not possible even for any Yulinian he knew. But Chun Yeowun was able to do this easily.

In Chun Yeowun’s eyes, a white light particle was quickly moving through as augmented reality was already in place. Chun Yeowun, a carrier of the 7th Generation Nano Machine in his body, had access to countless technology from the far future.

*beep. beep. beep.*

Through Yeowun’s eyes, augmented reality marked the location of all snipers around the area. This was calculated just by sensing the angle and direction of the laser points aimed at him.

‘If they are aiming from high up, then it must be to minimize other damage.’

Even without Nano’s analytics, Yeowun already had vaguely figured out the locations of all the snipers as they all had a very slight ‘killing intention’ aura around them.

‘Should I get rid of them all?’

This was very easy for Chun Yeowun. They might be feeling safe because they were at a distance, but they were actually well within Chun Yeowun’s range of attack. It was very easy for Yeowun to kill them all, but Yeowun also had this feeling that helped him through many tough situations in the past.

‘It’s going to be annoying if I do.’

There were just too many onlookers here. Even for Chun Yeowun who did not hesitate to harm his enemies, he wasn’t a type to kill those who did not have hostility against him.

‘I am not sure where I am even. I can’t show all of my powers in front of all these people yet.’

Even if Yeowun did not use blade or use a shield, he could have used his deep and powerful energy to block all bullets from damaging him. But he did not use this intentionally as he had concerns about his current situation.

[Can you hear me?]

‘?’

Yeowun narrowed his eyes. The voice coming to his ears right now was not coming from nearby. This was a telepathic message. It was a technique used by martial artists of Yulin, sending sound to specific targets by using internal energy in order to speak secretly.

Yeowun immediately turned to a certain direction. It was toward the slightly open window on the 5th floor corridor in the building across the street.

*flinch*

The person who stood by the window shuddered at that.

‘Out of all these people, he found me here right away?!’

The person became shocked, but they were also astonished. He knew the man was highly skilled, but this was more than what he had hoped for. This power had enough of value for him to work for.

[Is it you?]
