Astrid - The Hybrid Princess

151 A PAINFUL PAS

CHAPTER 151 – PAINFUL PAST 1

White-Fire glared at its mate and ignored White-Wing once more. White Wing wanted to retaliate but decided against it. After all, it was between both of them.

"You are just scared that talking with her would melt your walls and make you forgive her. But in actual truth, you holding to that hatred is your way of being strong and not missing her. I do not want you to live that way grandfather. She would not want that as well."

After speaking, White-Fire turned around and walked away.

"Where are you going?" White Wing asked.

"To check up on her," it replied and left the two bigger beasts alone.

White Wing looked sideways where the Elder stood and was about saying something, but when he noticed the solemn look it had, he kept quiet.

Its eyes held so much pain in them. White Wing could sense, that its mate touched a very soft spot in the Elder's heart.

The Elder didn't bother to look at White Wing. It turned around and gazed up in the sky.

"As painful as it sounds, White-Fire is right."

"Elder?"

"It's been so long now. What should I do?" The Elder asked with hoarse voice.

"What do you want the most Grandfather?"

White Wing always addressed the Elder as Grandfather whenever they wanted to discuss something important.

"I want to see her again. I still recall the last time we saw each other. It was the day I hated the most."

"What exactly happened on that day?" White Wing asked.

**FLASHBACK**

In a thick forest, a White Tiger-Phoenix Beast stood with its back facing a fairy. Its face held so much anger and pain as it ignored the fairy behind it. The trees and flowers all danced to the melodious tune of the wind.

"Glacier!" the fairy called.

No answer.

"Glacier please."

She still didn't get any answer from the mythical beast. Slowly she made her way towards it. As she walked, the wind blew, raising her golden light-brown hair with it. She wore a fled light-green dress that complimented her looks, bringing out the dazzling beauty she was.

Gently, she placed her palm on the beast's big body and rubbed on it lightly, in a petting motion. Irrespective, the beast still didn't give her face.

"Glacier!" she called once more.

"No, Leia. I do not want to hear what you have to say," Glacier said with a pout.

She couldn't see it, but she could very much guess it was pouting right now. It was her beast companion and they knew each other well. She lightly chuckled at its behavior, before moving to stand in front of it.

"Hey, don't be like that, hmm. I haven't even started yet."

"You might as well have said it and completed what you wanted to say. Or have you forgotten that our minds are linked?" Glacier questioned.

"Glacier, you can't do this to me."

"I can't do this to you? Leia, I am not the one trying to break us up. What about me? Are you allowed to do this to me? You can't do this to me, Leia. You simply can't. I won't allow it." Glacier yelled at her and turned away.

It was feeling countless emotions right now, but above all, the pain was etched deep. The beast and master contract bounded both parties together. They were linked in more than one way possible, mind and body.

As such, they could hear each other's thought, feel whenever the other was in danger and whenever one got hurt, it would hurt the other. They shared pains as well.

Right now, she could feel every bit of pain that Glacier felt and it broke her heart. She didn't relax and followed it.

"Don't make this any difficult than it already is, Glacier. You know there's a war going on. I cannot allow anything to happen to you. I would never forgive myself if something does."

"Don't make this about me, Leia. I cannot leave you."

"You can and you must."

"No, what if you get hurt? I won't be there to save you. I would also get hurt. So there's no point in being separate. I won't forgive myself if something were to happen to you because I am not there."

"There's always a way, Glacier. I must join the fight and I cannot have you fighting alongside me. Mystical beasts shouldn't soil their hands in the wars of men. Besides, you have your family waiting for you at the forest peak."

She tried desperately to reason with it, just so it would agree to the suggestion she was about to pose.

"You are also my family!" It hollered at her.

She could see its eyes begin to water. Her wings dropped at the sight. It broke her thousand times more than she could ever imagine.

There was a war between the Elves and the Sorcerers. As a merged kingdom with the sorcerers, they had to offer their assistance. She was Queen of Fortland, the fairy Kingdom and married to the King of Ignidon.

"I know and I would protect my own. It's for the best, Glacier. At the very least till we can find a way out of this fighting and bloodshed."

She moved in close and hugged her mystical beast, letting her tears break free from its hold. It couldn't hold its tears back as well and cried with her.

She gently rubbed against its wings like she was memorizing its wings and fur. She was going to miss it and she hoped it wouldn't take her long to ensure the war came to an end.

After a while of hugging and crying, she released the beast from her embrace and took a couple of steps backwards.

"Anyways, how long do you think the war would last? A couple of months maybe?"

Her eyes dropped close as it spoke, completely ignoring its words. The next minute she began chanting and murmuring some words.

At first, it couldn't make out what she was saying, but when it reached for their mind link, its eyes widened in shock. It made an attempt to leave, but an invincible barrier stopped it.

It looked up at her at once. She was now flying on the air as she kept on chanting.

"Leia, no!"
