A Second Chance In Remnant

Chapter 34 - 34. Olakino Jungle

I have found that I hate, hate, HATE this evil jungle, the Olakino jungle is full of poisonous plants along with some cavernous cousins that can eat even a big guy like Drake. It is of little wonder that some people die in Lemiel's expeditions but what really makes me want to burn this jungle down are the monkeys. Yes, monkeys not Faunus like Sun Wukong but the animals literally and the reason for that is that they harassed us with throwing mainly fruits and brown stuff that starts with a P. Moria even went ballistic and tried to kill the evil little buggers only for them to lead him into some very hungry plants in which we had to save him from being turned into fertilizer. Lemiel and Tsukuyomi had umbrellas to block the nasty projectiles for the most part but the rest of the expedition team didn't have the foresight to do so. Once we found a clearing in the jungle the expedition team started to set up a camp for the day after the camp was set up I gathered some sticks and vines to create a make-shift shield to block whatever those monkeys throw at me.

After I felt I had enough materials to make the shields I head back to the camp to get to work before going to sleep. As I worked on binding the sticks together into a diamond shape to get started Tsukuyomi came over to me and watched as I work. With her silence stare getting to me I asked.

Silva: Can I help you Tsukuyomi?

She kept her silence, as I went back to work on my shield I tried talking to her to fill the quiet.

Silva: So, a fun trip so far with the monkeys and all, right?

Her neutral expression showing nothing the silence kept on getting more and more awkward. I tried thinking of a topic to talk about with her to help ease the awkwardness and thinking of one I asked.

Silva: Have you ever met Blake Belladonna before, you know Ghira's daughter?

She curtly replied.

Silva: ... Okay, then what your opinion on her?

Tsukuyomi seemed to be thinking with her brow slightly furrowed and she answered.

Tsukuyomi: She is likely to leave the White Fang in the future.

Although I know why I still asked her.

Silva: What gave you that impression?

Her reply was.

Tsukuyomi: She originally entered the White Fang due to Adam's persona of a righteous warrior that hides his true nature and if she isn't blind she will see him for what he truly is beneath the surface.

Hearing her words helps me feel more confident in the future unfolding like in the show and the butterfly effects that I may be causing haven't drastically changed anything. I try talking to her some more on the topic in hopes of getting to know her.

Silva: What do you think Adam's true nature is?

Tsukuyomi: Someone who doesn't want equality between Faunus and humans but to inflict more pain and sorrow on to humans then what they did to him and the Faunus.

This matches what I know of him and I will feel less guilty about killing him after I get some use out of him like helping the fall of Beacon and throwing the White Fang in disorder after running away from Haven leaving his so-called comrades behind. I will still look into maybe saving Sienna Kahn from her untimely death at Adam's hands along with preventing him from cutting off Yang's arm but still all this is still 3 years away. I look forward to the future and hope that I achieve what I plan to do, spending the next couple of hours talking to Tsukuyomi and working on my shield Lemiel called all of us for dinner. Dinner was a short affair and after everyone was done eating Lemiel called all of our attention to her so that she can explain what we are doing here.

Lemiel: Okay, everyone listens up and I will start to tell you what to look out for in this brothers forsaken jungle. There are a number of medicinal plants around the jungle along with a couple of other things of value.

All at once, every other expedition members scroll went off aside from Lemiel's it showed a number of plants and animals with pictures along with other details. Lemiel continued her explanation.

Lemiel: As you, all can see in your scrolls there is all the necessary information on what to gather and what to avoid in the Olakino jungle. While there are quotas to be met if we want this expedition to be profitable for all of us the most important thing is your life, got it. Now for the next few days, we will work individually to gather what you can while I will be scouting around for my ingredients for my place and Tsukuyomi will guard the camp in the meantime. Alright, that's everything so good night to all of you and get plenty of rest because we will have a long couple of days ahead of us.

While everyone went off to there respective tents I reviewed the list on my scroll to see if there anything that interests me. Lemiel but a number of stars on the plants to show how valuable they are the more stars they have the greater the value and Lemiel put a little chibi sticker version of herself on the ingredients shes after. Rather then go to sleep I decided to go ahead and start gathering because the monkeys right now were asleep I assume because they haven't harassed the camp in the last couple of hours. I have got to say being born with night vision is really convenient in this instance using my sonar to help me gather also helped. I didn't gather the stuff near the camp because I was leaving it for everyone else so that if they need help they were just a shout away plus the really valuable stuff was in the deeper part of the jungle from what the information said that Lemiel passed out.

( The next morning)

After putting the last basket of what I gathered in the cart the sun start to shine over the treetops and the first to come out of their tent was Tsukuyomi. The white wolf Faunus saw what I was doing and asked me.

Tsukuyomi: Did you gather all of this? Last night?

I tiredly nodded my head then yawned feeling the need to sleep but not before getting some breakfast to fill my now empty stomach. Tsukuyomi slightly furrowed her brow then said.

Tsukuyomi: Lemiel didn't mention this last night because she figured everybody was still tired and wanted to sleep for the night but the jungle is more dangerous at night because most of the animals around here are nocturnal.

Hearing her I remember running into a massive snake that didn't have any eyes that somehow manage to chase me all across the jungle despite having no sight. Thinking about that monstrous serpent a shiver went down my spine and that was only one of the nightmarish creatures I ran into while gathering. There was also a raptor-like lizards that kept on chasing me plus a boar the size of a rhino with sharp needles on its back that charged through the trees destroying them trying to kill me, all in all, no more night time gathering for me. Well, I still think I did a pretty good job gathering what I did because there are 7 baskets full of plants on the list plus some nuts and fruits for Lemiel. Lemiel soon came out of her tent then saw the baskets full of goodies and was grinning ear to ear then looked to me and said.

Lemiel: Silva if this, not a dream I could kiss you right now.

I jokingly replied.

Silva: Pucker up, because its reality but before that can you make breakfast I'm starving.

My stomach growled in agreement then Lemiel jumped up and held on to me then gave me a kiss on the cheek. Looks like Lemiel says what she means, after planting her kiss she went off to make breakfast while I rubbed my cheek in surprise. Looking at Tsukuyomi who was examining what I gathered I asked.

Silva: Is Lemiel always this affectionate?

Tsukuyomi nodded and said.

Tsukuyomi: You just saved her a lot of time with what you gathered last night plus Lemiel always enjoys going on her expeditions.

Confused at what she means I asked.

Tsukuyomi smiled for the first time and mysteriously answered.

Tsukuyomi: You will see in the future.
