Side Story – Popular Live Streamer

My name is Shirogane Chichi (Papa) 40 years old and a father of two. Occupation: YouTube Streamer.

YouTube Streamer is someone who broadcasts themselves doing something like playing a game, singing, dancing, and many more on a website called 'YouTube.' And I was one of them with 'Dio' as my streamer name.

Initially, I wanted to name it '500 Million in debt', however after thinking it through and asking my future son-in-law, I decided 'Dio' would be the best. If people asked why 'Dio'? I can only answer I don't know. It just suddenly came to my mind when I think about the name.

I think many people are like that too when they make a nickname in a game. Without knowing where that name come from, they decided to use it as their nickname. Of course, not all people are like this.

Actually, I never imagined myself becoming a YouTube streamer that should be occupied by young people before. I just earnestly take many part-time jobs to pay my debt and support the life of my kids.

By that fact, it is obvious my family was poor right now. But, it wasn't actually the case in the past. Our family used to own a factory. Well, it ended up went bankrupt 8 years ago. Because of that, my wife left me bringing our daughter with her.

Still, for an unknown reason, she let our daughter back to live with me. Naturally, my daughter who still young at that time didn't know the reason too. And although she left us, she never even once sends me a divorce letter.

Honestly, I was relieved with that. Because she is the only woman I have loved in my life. I won't say I was popular, but quite a number of girls used to like me when I was young. But, she is the only one I ever love.

At any rate, since that day, I earnestly take any job I could get to support my kids and tried to pay my more than 500 million debts caused by the bankrupt. However, I stopped taking any part-time jobs since last year when my future son-in-law suggested me to become a YouTube streamer.

At first, I only opened a live stream just to talk and share my experiences. Unexpectedly, many people like it. And as the days passed, I even opened a gaming live stream alongside talking. It's about playing a game while I talk with my viewers.

I even have more than 100k subscribers and able to pay some of my debt. I got that much money from the payment from youtube and super chats from my viewers. They're very generous when giving super chats.

At any rate, right now I am at Lawson near my house buying some drinks and snacks before I went to live stream.

"Everything woul-... Y-you are a popular YouTube streamer Dio-san, right?! I am a fan of you! Please take a photo with me!" The clerk at lawson suddenly stopped before he finished saying how much my grocery would be and then excitedly said.

Naturally, this is not my first time getting this kind of request out of a sudden. I wonder why they want to take a photo with an old man like me.

"I see, then thanks for supporting me all this time. And sure thing, we could take a photo after I paid for these." I smiled and said.

"Ah! I-I'm sorry! Everything would be 2000 yen." The clerk apologetically said.

After that, I paid for the groceries and took a selfie with the clerk using his phone. Fortunately, there isn��t any guest who lined up to pay behind me.

"Thank you very much! And I will definitely watch your 'Gaming Talk' live stream after my shift end! Please do your best from now on, we 'The World' as your fans will always support you!" The clerk grasped my hand and passionately said.

'The World' seems to be what my fans call themselves. I don't know where the name came from. I mean, how can you even connect 'Dio' and 'The World'. Well, both certainly connected to me now, though.

I greeted the clerk and head back home under the gaze of the clerk who looks at me with stars in his eyes.

By the way, many people who gave me super chats are women. For some reason, they like me very much to the point some of them trying to flirt with me when we accidentally meet. There is even a rare case where a woman trying to follow me to my house.

Like that, I started playing the game while casually talking with my viewers. Two hours passed and right now I was about to kill one of the bosses in Dark Souls 3, Abyss Watcher.

As I entered the white fog that covered the place to fight the Abyss Watcher, a cutscene where an Abyss Watcher killing another Abyss Watcher can be seen on my screen before the boss fight started.

"Oh? You're approaching me? Instead of running away, you're coming right to this Dio?" I said. Then, as soon I finished saying that, the cutscene ended and the abyss watcher rushed toward me and slashed.

I avoided the attack and look at the chat that became crazy after I had said that phrase. It's been months since I incidentally used that phrase, but even now they still haven't got tired of it.

At any rate, although Abyss Watcher was quite strong, I was able to kill it on my first try. I'm not boasting, but I am quite good at this game. Way better than my son.

After killing the boss, I talked with the chat for sometimes and was about to end the live stream until one user asked me a question that made me intrigued.

That question made me think about my wife and me because that's exactly like our situation right now. She left me without saying the reason. But still, I only have one answer to that. I doubt it could help this Lorelei, though.

After I had ended the live stream, I thought about the last question my viewer asked me. And I ended up imagining someday I want to say that words directly to my wife... Fortunately, other than me, nobody at home right now because I must be displaying a grin as I thought about my wife.

At any rate, something that I need to do is looking for another apartment. Because I want to have a room for me to live stream. And to avoid having found by a crazy fan.

In addition, my kids surely want a separate room as they have been in the same room for a long. I guess I will discuss it with my future son-in-law since he has bought some property before.

"...F-fine if you insist... I will call him at my room..." My daughter said with fake anger. My daughter yo, I could see your happy expression, you know.

"Haha, alright. I will be waiting for him." I chuckled and said. Then, my daughter nodded and hurriedly go to her room.

"I should tell this to him too. I am sure he will be very happy to hear it." I muttered while imagining how happy my future son-in-law would be.
