You Didn't Tell Me the Start of My Transmigration Was a Gate

Chapter 6 Part 2: The Unbreakable Castle

Although the indoor gymnasium was known as an unbreakable castle, the name had a rather sarcastic meaning.

From what I remembered before, due to the infighting Apart from the building, everything else collapsed. The humans inside and outside all died. So, even though there’s a chance of it recurring again, it’s still a pretty good stronghold, given how sturdy the walls are. Especially with Choi Woo-Doo around, as a wise strategist, he can cultivate talented awakeners pretty well. I also spent my life here as a beginner so I’m pretty confident with how he handles things.

I think, it’s better for both Kim Tae-byeong and Seol Min-jun to stay and improve their skills here.

They both have potentials for different specializations so, if they were trained well they’d be really useful.

Song Da-jeong has a potential to become a blacksmith. I don’t know if she can develop herself here.

Song Da-Jeong can actually be developed as a clumsy tanker, given her high strength and stamina. It might not be a bad choice, especially in a situation where there is not enough manpower. However, it’d be such a waste of potential. Blacksmith’s are rarer than tankers. So if anyone has a slight chance of becoming one, he or she must be thoroughly cultivated.

For Kwon Seong-Min, since his stats are already pretty high, I think it would be better for him to develop some strategist characteristics and be trained under Choi Woo-Doo.

Versatile all-rounders are pretty good at the beginning, but in the second half, having specialists are more advantageous. All-rounders will have clear limitations at the end, while specialists will have a good grasps of situations in line with their talents. Kwon Seong-min’s innate leadership, negotiating skills, and situational awareness are better than his physical abilities, so he may be better off as a back support than playing on the field.

As for Lee Chan-song and Go Hae-yoon, I still don’t know what they can be developed as. They might become useful in the future, but right now their potential was still ambiguous.

Go Hae-Yoon has a pretty high agility stat, but he lacks actual combat experience. Since he was assigned at the rear as back-up during our journey, he wasn’t exposed much to actual battles. Although I think if he was trained properly, he might be able to develop the reconnaissance skills like Seol Min-Jun. So he still needs special attention.

Lee Chan-song said her support level was higher than her agility. She might be able to develop into a Barb or a Paladin, both specializes in buffs. However, that kind of specialization might be too extravagant in this kind of situation.

Thinking about it thoroughly, I was still glad that things didn’t turn for the worse during our journey to here.

***

We finally had our long-awaited break. Since, we have a roof on top of our heads, and impenetrable walls to shelter us from the wind and monsters. We can finally take a rest. The distribution of roles will be done tomorrow, so we can take things easy and just focus on getting a good night’s sleep. But…

There’s still a place that I need to go to.

I quietly got up from the ground.

Equipment, or items, is an important issue that I need to resolve.

It was said that Master Calligraphers do not need brushes, but hunters must have equipment. Having excellent items and equipment, can bring great synergies to a hunter. That’s the reason why, most well-known hunters wear expensive items and equipment all over their bodies.

In that sense, the weapon I currently have, can be considered to be disastrous.

[Verifying Item…]

«Sharp Jackknife»

Grade: F

Attack Power: 10-20

Description: A sharp-edged jackknife. A deep stab can cause fatal injuries.

Before I returned, I also have a weapon which I considered as my soul weapon. I was able to obtain it from this very gate.

When the gate was cleared, the system checks a player’s contribution then provides fair rewards equivalent to its value. And before I returned… I was the first to contribute to clearing this gate.

It was a pretty difficult gate to clear, even hunters who were trained before, couldn’t easily find a way to clear it. There were rumors that the rewards would be terrifying, and everyone heard about it. However, since I can’t do anything at the moment nor try to clear the gate. I have no choice, but to find an item that can be used as a temporary measure.

Some items are dropped after killing some monsters, but there are also hidden items. Those items can only be obtained, when certain conditions are met. I call it an Easter Egg sort of thing.

And as far as I can remember, there was an Easter Egg near this location. It was a piece of equipment obtained by a member of the reconnaissance team in the past. Back then, it was quite a hot topic, because we never knew it was possible. We always thought items can only be obtained from monster drops.

According to that person, If you go northeast from the indoor gymnasium, you will find an animal hospital.

Found it!

Hanmaum Animal Hospital. It’s now in ruins, but traces of it remained based on its decorated interior.

I can smell a stench coming from the air as I enter. It was similar to a rotten animal carcass. I guess it was quite difficult for people to escape as is, so they didn’t have the heart to take the poor babies out, while they were struggling to survive. And the monsters, they probably sensed the smell of meat and made a rampage around here.

Sure enough, when I entered the treatment room, I saw rotten flesh between brutally crushed iron bars. There were names sparsely engraved on each of the collapsed iron bars. These are painful names such as Choco, Sarangi, and Mango…

As I went a little further inside, I saw the director’s office, and I could see the employee rest room right beside it.

When I opened the door and entered, there was a dead body. It was a young puppy, somehow it survived alone, but it died of starvation because there was no one to feed it. I carefully lifted the corpse and then went.

Rest in peace.

I prayed for it’s little soul and then buried it on the ground. It was a pretty small puppy, probably only a few months old.

[Alert: The conditions are met!]
