You Didn't Tell Me the Start of My Transmigration Was a Gate

CH 47.2

Chapter 47 Part 2:  Theodore

It was a simple victory. It’s only an E-rank monster, but I’ve gotten better at Spatial Interference and the cooldown is much faster than before.

I can now use it multiple times in quick succession, if not in a row. I also feel very light in the air.

This must be due to this:

「Verifying the title…」

Verified Title: ‘Star of the Netherworld’

Description:

A title given to the ace of the Netherworld, The shining star.

Additional effects:

1. Increases all stats by 10% when accompanied by another member of Netherworld.

2. Receive more rewards for unbelievable feats compared to your guild size.

3. Receive heavenly protection: Your Flight Stability is temporarily improved by 10% when your feet are off the ground.

This was one of the titles that were activated when I joined the Netherworld Guild.

It was one of the titles that had the word ‘Locked‘ on my status window when I checked before. “Star of ■■” is actually “Star of The Netherworld“.

It was a title granted to me when I took the name of a mid-tier guild and showed endless activity.

I didn’t expect it to open so soon, but it was labeled as ‘Locked‘, so I figured it would open at some point.

Apparently, the requirements are much lower now that I’m unlocking them instead of earning them from scratch. I still have a lot of titles to unlock and a long way to go in terms of stats, but I’m starting to feel like I’m getting back to my old self, and that feeling of moving freely through the air is always exhilarating.

It’s a rule to dispose of the corpses of defeated monsters, but… this dungeon has a very small monster population, and the vibration from earlier seemed to have moved the innermost one, so it didn’t seem necessary to clean it up. I left it alone and headed back to do my original purpose.

I stood in front of a half-open cave again. I activated my unique skill and checked for traps.

Only when I was sure that it was clear could I take my first step. I walked down the narrow hallway and saw a light in the distance.

Beyond the hallway was a new room.

‘This is Theo’s quarters.’

I could tell as soon as I walked in. It smelled like old paperback books. A small cluster of luminescent mushrooms dimly lit the room.

The room was decorated as if someone had lived there. There was a row of bookshelves that reminded me of a library.

There was also a desk close to the door, with a stack of papers on it.

‘Ink quills instead of ballpoint pens.’

What a noble taste. I grabbed a flashlight and shined it around the library. Each of these books would be a valuable source of information about the Toluk.

Of course, they are written in Toluk’s language, so it will be very difficult to understand and will require a lot of research and study for some time.

As I scan the desk, a shadow suddenly falls.

It was a human form.

I quickly turned around, but there was no one there. But the shadow hadn’t gone away.

“Who is it?

I reached for my knife.

‘Another hunter? No way.’

This place is years away from the original discovery.

「Foolish human… You actually made it this far…」

Just then, a muffled voice rang out. It was a grotesque sound, like a nail scratching a steel plate.

「 You are arrogant… I will punish you!」

There was nothing strange about the voice as it spoke. I used my Spatial Interference skill to scan between the bookshelves, but there was no sign of this strange being.

It was in its ‘Shadow‘ form, which means it’s near where the light is. I clutched my Noir tightly with my nerves on edge.

My senses were sharpening. One step, two steps. I walked slowly, muffling any sound and hiding my movements.

He should be just beyond the last bookcase.

I paused just before the last bookcase. It was hard to see, but there was something glowing brightly around it. It seems to be the source of the light.

He’s probably standing near it….

「All hail the great Theodore Muahahaha!」

‘One… Two..’

BANG!

「Aah! Whoa!」

‘Theodore?’

I didn’t hear what he said until after I fired the shot.

‘Did he just say Theodore?’

The sight before me was unbelievable. There was a glowing crystal ball and a tiny human being standing in front of it. It was no bigger than… A finger, that’s all.

‘A human the size of a finger?’

The Theodore I knew was perfectly fine and the same size as us…?

“Huh! An Earthling!”

“Theodore?”

Tousled green hair, tear-stained blue eyes. He looked like a medieval aristocrat, even in his formal attire, so I knew he was Theodore the Traitor from the otherworld.

‘But I didn’t know that he could manifest himself through the gate already?’

“A…… Earthling, a real Earthling, do you hear me, do you even understand me?”

Theodore asks breathlessly, he’s about the size of a small hamster so he’s not all that intimidating, but why is he looking like this?

“You, how are you here?”

“Huh! Hahaha, I said it! Can you even talk to me?”

The backlash is intense. Theodore looked overwhelmed with emotion, almost like he was about to cry.

I couldn’t believe my eyes when he started beating his own drum. Although Theodore and I weren’t close in the past, I remember him having a mysterious image when we met in public…

“Ahhhh! An Earthling is taking me!”

I roughly scooped up Theodore. Finally, we’re at eye level. I grabbed Theodore’s cloak and lifted him up, and he hung on for dear life. He struggled a few times, but to no avail.

“Theodore.”

“Do you know me?!”

“You said you were the great Theodore.”

“Cough!”

He clamped his hands over his mouth. Not that I’m going to be able to pick up what he said.

“What’s that look?”

“What? What is it? It’s the culmination of all the great technology in this body!”

He said, trying to be dignified even though he was dangling profusely right now.

“If you’re going to call it that, it’s a projectile technology that can act like a normal body, surpassing the limitation that only authorized projectiles can enter the gate with the position of ‘Boss Monster‘! The only downside is that it’s still a bit small!”
