You Didn't Tell Me the Start of My Transmigration Was a Gate

CH 11.2

Chapter 11 Part 2: Leaving Soon

Nothing will change even if they oppose it. I’ve already made up my mind. No one can change my decision. What I’m only doing now, is just simply notifying them.

I’m just simply informing them about my departure. I can choose not to tell them as well but I figured it’d be better this way.

“We…we didn’t even know…”

An Yu-Soo clenched his fists then turned his head away. He was trembling looking  like he’s been betrayed.

Did he think that as their mentor, I would be by their side for a long time?

“Your skills have improved a lot, and even without me, the two of you will be able to study on your own while sparring.”

I’ve been training their combat skills to a level where they’d be able to subdue people without fatally wounding them. They have been showing decent results for awhile now. Hence, I don’t really have to worry about their combat ability.

No one in this gym can match them.

“When are you leaving?”

I’ve always been in awe at how fast this kid can change his face. From an angry abandoned child earlier he’s now acting like a little aggrieved puppy. The sudden change made me speechless.

“Will we see each other again?”

This… I felt very uncomfortable because I felt like I had become a heartless owner abandoning my pet.

“If we survive this catastrophe, then we can meet later once we escape out of this gate.”

I hinted that I will never come back. The twins were one of the few survivors of this gate, along side me. Before the regression, I’ve encountered them during alliance raids, and we even participated during the final battle together. So it’s inevitable that we’d meet again in the future.

“…Yu-Ra will be very sad.”

I bet.

However, I have no other choice. With Beelzebub watching me, I’ll only pose a threat to them by staying by their side. Beelzebub might do a ton of insidious things to harass me, and If I don’t leave now. He might do anything to break this Stronghold. If he sent away three D-Class Monsters to this gym, then no one can live.

“Huhu…”

Song Da-Jeong tried to hold back her tears, but it seemed that it was not going well, so she made a sound of heavy breathing.

“We…Hope! Outside the gate…Huuhu…Meet again?”

Apparently, that line struck Song Da-Jeong’s heart. Then she nodded and hugged me with tears pouring all over her face. When she started sobbing loudly, I got a little tired.

Why did I even tell them all this?

“Noona, if we leave, will you feel sick after you’ve gone for less than 10 Li1~?”

An Yu-Ra pretended that nothing was wrong, though her eyes were puffed-up red. An Yu-Soo must have informed her about my departure in advance. It wasn’t pleasant to see a teenager who’s barely an adult keep her emotions inside, but I can’t do anything about it. So I just pretended not to notice.

“What? You’re leaving? Who’s leaving?”

Seol Min-joon said with surprise in his eyes.

He wanted to ask again, then stopped. He kept silent for a while as if thinking about something, then nodded to himself as if he realized about something. He was in this state for awhile, as if talking to his inner self.

“Wow, that’s something I couldn’t even dream of. Going out there.”

As expected, Chan-song’s sarcastic tone was no different from usual.

“I’ll wait for you Captain!”

Kim Tae-byung seemed to have mistaken me as his superior.

And Kwon Seong-min… He hadn’t uttered a single word with me since that day. Everytime our eyes met, he just look away as if avoiding a plague. This whole thing left me to wonder…

Was I really close to them? I thought about it again. How have I acted the past months? I’ve always been aware that I’m not the most comfortable person to be around with, so I think I’ve managed to keep my distance with them in a way that wasn’t rude towards anyone…

An Yu-Soo behaved awkwardly at first, but soon he returned to his usual joking self and talk lightly with An Yu-Ra. I heard the two of them paraphrase Arirang2 like a roundabout song.

If you leave it, you can’t even go 10 li.

They sang the song in a lively and creative way. It was the first time that I realized that there were so many variations of Arirang.

“Anyways, I’m leaving.”

No matter what anyone say, I responded consistently, I wanted them to know that I’m really leaving.

Seeing how cold-hearted I was, the others who were sulking and were trying to reason me out with injustices, gave up dejectedly. They probably thought that I won’t change my mind no matter what.

A little handover ceremony was held for awhile. After time passed, some people came and passed by me, saying words of worry, sadness of parting and even gratitude. I packed a couple of monster meats, fresh drinking water, and a few other necessary supplies to prepare for my journey.

My next destination was called Salt Rock, and it would take me a whole week to reach it.

She is a person of few words.

The type who swallows empty words and prove herself with her own actions. She gave people the sense of relief just by being with her presence.

Kwon Seong-Min tried to recall the first time he met Han Seo-Ha. A sudden disaster occured. They’re all trapped in the gate, monsters were swarming around outside. Everyone was in a panic, and he felt like the sky was about to collapse. Everyone in the warehouse were breathing in fear and hiding like a frightened rat.

I had no choice but to do it.

Kwon Seong-Min saw the monster appearing and he couldn’t think of anything. He pretended to incite everyone to fight. Use them as bait to escape alone.

He is neither just nor kind. He is not a vessel of great judgement nor a man of justice. He would be lucky enough if he can escape and save his life.

He was a petit bourgeois3 whose only defining quality was his good looking hair.

Although a credible figure came out from the National Hunter Accreditation Test, I was still doubted for having an ambiguous talent, due to the fact that, I didn’t have a plausible background. Since Kwon Seong-Min’s family doesn’t have enough financial support to send him to the Academy, he couldn’t demand from them nor tell them that he wanted to become a hunter. He made excuses like he wants to focus more on his education and resigned to being just a normal person.

Then suddenly out of nowhere, a person who can stand alone on her own appeared in front of him.

“Everybody! Get off the wall!”

I thought it was just a random teenager doing mischief but…

Fu-wook!

I felt my body shake for a moment, then when I looked up I saw Han Seo-Ha stabbing the monster with a kitchen knife on its back.

Who can not feel awe at the sight of that small figure, standing on top of the monster’s corpse, standing confidently after a victory?

TL NOTE:

Ohh a Different point of view. (*-*) So I guess Kwon Seong-Min’s feelings were deeper than I thought. It’s nice to see a different perspective once in awhile.

Also, I wonder when they’ll meet again? I kinda’ like the twins..
