Chapter 5

In the blink of an eye, Li Xin, her body clothed in plain, cotton clothes, was thrown into a dark green grassland.

The soft blades of grass underneath her body were damp, the sunlight warm, and the blue skies were clear.

Li Xin propped up her hand against the ground and pushed herself up. She lowered her head and started dusting off her body. The juice from the grass had already stained her white clothes with spots of dark green.

Li Xin stood still and took a deep breath.

Miracle, I’m back.

With a thought, a roll of sheepskin that had been fastened by her waist floated out with a ‘ whoosh ‘ and unfurled in front of her to reveal a map.

[Region Map: Gu Hu Town, 247,146]

The yellow map was drawn with thick lines. Li Xin waved her hand and the map furled itself back and flew back into its original position at her waist.

These actions were all accomplished by the so-called “spirit” force. With a thought, such actions would take place.

Similar to the ancient legends of internal force, moves that can part the surrounding falling leaves and petals, and the strength that can send a person flying.

This is [Strength]. Advance to attack your foe, and retreat to defend oneself.

In the early stages, nobody had realized this. Since the holographic game was so realistic, people were unable to help bringing in their real life habits to the game.

Who would ever think that they could be a “Wuxia Master” in real life? Those with chuunibyou (1) syndrome didn’t count.

Miracle had the same goal as other online games, but there were some differences ar( at ) its core.

Not mentioning the new holographic form, it also had “magic arts” and “martial combat”, and neither of them had specific occupational designations. There were attributes, skills, equipment, and blood bars.

What was more, the way of fighting in Miracle was quite different from other traditional games.

These things did not have so-called “official methods” to warn the players and the general game “novice guide” still required players to explore for themselves.

However, there would always be some people in the world with ideas and fantasies. In the past lifetime, it took only three months to discover the effect of this “mental strength” and to test out that its power was determined by the “strength” attribute, thus leading to the martial arts mode of flying around everywhere.

It was just that everyone’s levels were uneven. Some people struggled for a long time, but their action of taking out an object like Li Xin just did was not even neat. Whereas some people had already taught themselves the qinggong “walking on water”, sword energy/jianqi was also formed when they brandished their swords.

The Chinese understood once they heard it. Oh, the so-called attack strength was actually Internal Energy.

You must click [Strength], click with all your might!

Then, what was [Spirit]?

If you were to say that [Strength] is to break the spiritual force out of the body and turn it into a blade, turn it into a sharp/penetrating aggressiveness; then [Spirit] was to absorb, sort out and keep the chaotic spiritual force within, and then release it with a method— this method was by using a Skill.

It was like both a physical and magical attack. However, there was no distinguishing between which type of damage it inflicted.

In Miracle, players who mainly had [Strength] were Warriors, and players who mainly had [Spirit] were Mages.

There was a profound meaning to the attack settings of Miracle. As for the specific meaning, Li Xin had only had a shallow contact in her past life, and the novel she had read at the end of it had been focused on her own life and death.

But they would see about it later. She already had a guess at the bottom of her heart, but she would have to wait and observe to confirm her theory.

In Miracle, Skills were hard to come by.

Simple ones such as “Hack”, “Chop”, and “Strike” could be purchased in Novice Villages. The price would probably empty out the majority of a player’s assets before they left Novice Village.

Advanced Skills such as “Successive Stab”, or “Double Chop” might certainly drop from the elite monsters outside of the city. The odds of this were probable.

Then, the “Big Move” rank similar to Skill Books such as those which carry additional damage to attacks could be received through tasks or from drops of Copy Bosses.

These were Skill Books in the line of “Physics”. “Magic” type Skill Books were even more wretched.

In the first place, they didn’t sell any Magic type Skill Books in Novice Village. This pitted a lot of Mage players with more [Spirit] points, leaving them with no choice but to weep.

They were players too. For those who added [Strength], their spiritual forces were released out so they could lift a stick and fight the monsters. Whereas for the ones who added [spirit], their spiritual force had been kept within but there were no skills to release them, so when they attacked with a stick, it caused less than half the damage as compared to the others.

Want Skills? One could only try to look for elite monsters outside of the city.

However, the attack power was low and they couldn’t be beaten! There was no solution.

What was more, the attribute of [Strength] was required. Even if you were to master [Spirit], you would still need to distribute a few points to [Strength], otherwise you would have no Strength Qi. While other people are leaping up on roofs and flying across water, you walk underwater…… to play with snakes?

And yet, Warriors don’t have this worry. Add full points to [Strength], add it to death.

To sum up, thanks to the degree of deception, the number of expert Mages in Miracle was about one in every hundred.

1. Chūnibyō (中二病) is a Japanese colloquial term that translates to “middle two disease”, i.e. “middle-school second-year syndrome” or “eighth-grader syndrome” or “year-nine syndrome”, typically used to describe early teens who have delusions of grandeur, who so desperately want to stand out that they have convinced themselves they have hidden knowledge or secret powers.
