“Is he out of his mind?”

The Chancellor finally spoke his thoughts out loud after carefully reading the letter.

It was a really rude thing for a commoner to say that regarding a prince of another country but that was really the only thing that he could say.

The swordmaster that was supposed to come for Brigitta’s swordmaster verification was in Cartul.

It was because geographically, it was close to the kingdom and above all, the swordmaster came here before so they thought it was the best choice.

Lesa and Cartul used the same language and it was one big country originally that separated so the culture was not too different as well so they had a quite strong political relationship.

So, the Chancellor requested Cartul without thinking much.

Of course, he was going to pay them a little service pay–which was almost about half of what an average Count would be paid.

But that was until this ignorant prince decided to mess it up.

“Since I can’t trust the eyes of a non-proper successor, I can’t make Cartul’s swordmaster make a trip for nothing? So you come here? Am I reading this correctly?”

“In short that would be the case.”

Hah, the Emperor was lost in words from the absurdity.

The point of the sarcastic letter was that. There were many euphemisms in it but if anyone who knew the Royal letter format read the letter they would immediately know what the writer was trying to say.

Is this the boldness of a young fellow?

The Emperor rested his chin on his hand and tapped the table with his index finger.

When his intimidating aura started thickening, the Foreign Affairs minister started wiping his sweat with his coat instead of his handkerchief.

“Foreign Affairs minister.”

“Yes, my Majesty!”

“Do you know anything about this guy?”

“Uh…. He was chosen as the successor to the throne 2 years ago. He is probably 22 now. He is skilled in swordsmanship and arts. Ah, this is not confirmed yet but he begged the Cartul’s Emperor to put their swordmaster as his bodyguard and when he was rejected of that request, he cooped up for a while. He didn’t come out of the mansion he rented so I was reported that there was no special activity. Uh, he also didn’t receive the gift the Chancellor sent….”

Even though he was afraid of the Emperor, Marquis* Villiore answered precisely.

The Chancellor traced back through his memory while listening to the Foreign Affairs minister.

He remembered surely that he had sent gifts to each country last year but one was returned. He was busy so he didn’t give it much thought back then but, it was Cartul.

“Then what are the possibilities that he sent the letter unofficially?”

Marquis Villiore was silent shortly and he parted his lips.

“Cartul’s Emperor is a moderate man. If it was him, he would never let a letter like this go through.”

“So I would be most likely right. Chancellor.”

“Yes.”

A smooth curve formed up on the Emperor’s lips.

“Send Max.”

Contrastingly, not even a little joy could be found in his eyes.

“Do I really look that easy?”

“No one would think that even after just seeing you once so please stop now.”

As he went back to the inner palace, the Emperor continued complaining.

He pretended to be fine in front of the ministers but he was often stressed about how other countries gossiped about how he was not the right and official successor to the throne.

If he really did kill the other princes because he wanted the throne like they gossiped, he wouldn’t be this bothered.

But he had to tolerate that even though he was the one going through all the hardship because of how things have turned out.

Whenever he heard that, his motivation to remain Emperor dropped.

“Chancellor.”

“Yes, your Majesty.”

“Glenn.”

“Yes, your Majesty.”

“Uh, so.”

“If you are going to talk about Lord Emmerich’s scarf you are right.”

The Emperor’s huge body swayed a little.

“No, I wasn’t going to ask that, just you know. Ah, yes right. It’s about Cartul’s prince. I was just going to ask about how he could be so reckless at that adorable age. I really wasn’t going to ask about the scar. Hah, how could you think I was going to ask about that? Haha silly you.”

The Chancellor felt pity looking at the Emperor trying to save himself. He sighed and turned to look at the list he held in one hand.

Lord Emmerich would answer his question right away but he was being unreasonable.

The Chancellor was very annoyed with this amazing Emperor.

If he displayed even half of the fierceness he shows in battlefields, there would be no gossip about him being infertile.

“I swear!”

“I see. Lord Emmerich would be in the Public Order Department by now.”

To the Chancellor’s indifferent reply, the Emperor grabbed his head and started suffering.

*.·:·.☽✧    ✦    ✧☾.·:·.*

The Emperor walking back and forth near the Public Order Department reminded Brigitta of a ‘dog about to poo’.

To her, the Emperor really looked like an Emperor. What it meant was that he didn’t look like an average person. He was taller than a well-built knight and his amethyst eyes really shined like a jewel.

His deep eye shape definitely brought out those eyes. And his eyelashes! His shoulders were broad and he was well-built so when he wore the cape embroidered with the royal symbol, he looked like the Rumillesa in the mural.

It seemed like he didn’t really notice it but that natural vibe made him even more Emperor-like.

The Emperor was really acting strange like a dog wanting to poo with his shiny eyes looking up to the sky then to the building.

Thinking about it, the Emperor was acting weird since the morning.

“What brings you here, your Majesty?”

“Oh, oh. Bri. How’s work?”

If the Chancellor was with him he would have told him to get straight to the point. But unfortunately, the Chancellor was on his way to the Duke’s mansion to tell him to go to Cartul so there was no one that could stop the Emperor from doing pathetic things.

“Yeaaa……..It’s fine.”

“Um, yes. If it’s fine then good. It’s cooler now. Um. Ah, you are probably used to it though right?”

“Yes…………but your Highness, anything you want to say..?”

Brigitta’s face distorted as the conversation continued.

The Emperor made up his mind to save his reputation to her as her teacher and decided to get to the point.

“Uh, I mean. You are used to the cold so, uh, I wanted to know why you had the scarf….”

“Ah, the scarf.”

Brigitta smiled thinking of her roommate she saw this morning.

The small lady that claimed with her whole body that she won’t be leaving the house for a few days.

It was so lovely of her to bring out a clumsily knitted scarf with her small hands that she accepted it even though she didn’t need it.

“The person I’m currently living with gave it to me to use it today. Even though it looks shapesh……messy? please understand.”

He looked around for a hole to hide but he couldn’t find any.

He pressed his ears flushing so he pretended like he was rubbing his neck and pressed on his earballs.

If the Chancellor saw the Emperor trying so hard to hide his blushing, he would have clicked his tongue so loud.

“Uh, the person you are living with must be a nice person.”

“Haha.”

When Brigitta smiled, the two female secretaries passing by blushed. A noble lady who seemed like she was going to the Rose Garden for a tea party also screamed and clasped her hands looking at the fresh and bright smile.

Looking at the handsomeness that deepened since as she aged, the Emperor thought for a short while if she really was the lily.

“She is a cute lady. Very small. Around this?”

“Oh, oh. Really?”

“She seemed like a writer. She went to bed really late yesterday. She’s the total opposite from me.”

“Oh, oooh.”

That must be the new book she said she’s working on. The Emperor screamed and cheered internally.

“I gave shit to the author.”

Looking at the Emperor saying lowly words with a serious face, the Duke spoke with an unkind face.

“Can we just send this Chancellor? I don’t feel the need to go myself.”

“No. Because even though he looks pathetic right now he is still an Emperor.”

The Chancellor was bitter as always.

*.·:·.☽✧    ✦    ✧☾.·:·.*

It was in a blink of an eye that the Duke barged into the Emperor’s private office. The Chancellor also followed him not minding the Duke’s rude behavior.

And the person waiting for them was the Emperor who had a serious look on him.

“You know honestly, a hand-knitted scarf ain’t right.”

“What’s the point of saying that now, huh.”

The Duke shook his head thinking the Emperor was a crackhead without considering his own notorious reputation.

“It hits differently to see it in front of my eyes than her forgetting about it…… the color….No, no. Was it always that hideous? Would it have been better if I gave her something ready-made?”

“Chancellor, can I just hit him once?”

“No, you can’t”

The Emperor then growled like a beast and started banging his head on the table. He won’t be able to function for at least 10 minutes in this state anyway.

The Emperor’s clever mind never worked properly on the matter of his favorite author.
