Ch 6

During the lunch break as I was munching on a sandwich talking to my friends, I noticed Nishikawa alone in the corner eating a bento by himself. A plan to uncover the relationship between him and Hiwari took place in my mind.

Doesn\'t he have any friends? I would have guessed that he at least had a few friends in the other classes.

I went and sat at my seat, which was beside him.

"Hey, Nishikawa, Your bento looks delicious."

"Ah, thank you. My mom made it" he said lowering his head.

"That\'s cool. Come let\'s eat together"

"R-Really are you sure. Your friends won\'t mind?"

"Oh, I\'m sure they will be fine." Then acting as if just noticing her I called to Nakano seated nearby. "Say Nakano san, why don\'t you come eat with us?"

She turned towards me and her gaze turned colder and colder, but then,

"Oh sure" Hiwari said, quickly noticing the mood, and tottered over, forcing the other two to accompany her.

Nakano looked at her weirdly and then turned and glared at me even harder. I promptly ignored her stares.

We had small conversations about random things but none of the topics could stay relevant for long and fizzed out quickly. I was kind of expecting this, since Nakano was answering in a frigid monotone and Nishikawa was bad at talking anyways, as for me, I too am not very good at initiating conversations. Soon we were enveloped by an awkward silence. Time to bring out the main dish.

"Say did you guys manage to wake up on time today? I saw the wrong time on my phone and rushed to school only to find out that I came early"

"So that\'s why you were running in the morning. I saw you while coming to school" Nakano responded to me properly for the first time.

"Ah, I woke up way to early in the excitement of the first day so I had to kill some time while walking to school", Hiwari said while glancing at Nishikawa.

Just as expected, something did happen.

"Are you all kids, can\'t even wake up at the right time?" Tsukumo joked light-heartedly.

You could say finally the ice was broken and we started chatting. But the conversation steered away from the morning incident and I couldn\'t think of a good way to steer it back to it without suspicion.

Soon lunch break was over.

That was useless huh. I thought while walking home. This is difficult. I don\'t have a strong relationship with MC and the heroine. The best way to get those two together and keep tabs on their progress would be if I had some insider help. I glanced back and looked at Nakano who was walking behind me at some distance.

I was walking alone because most people have club activities after school. As for me, being in a club would reduce the time I have for my otaku hobbies. Nishikawa is also not in any club but he cycled off since our homes are in different direction. Nakano was also probably in the same predicament. Tsukumo is in the Tennis club and Hiwari is in the photography club.

I turned back and waved at her to come. She looked at me confused, but increased her speed. When she was within speaking distance

"What do you need", she said coldly.

"I was just wondering if you knew if Hiwari san\'s knew Nishikawa before today"

"Why?"

"Ah -, Good question. By the way why do you hate me so much? You\'ve been throwing icicles at me from the morning"

"Don\'t change the topic. Why do you want to know about Shizuo? You perverted stalker."

"Wait! How am I stalking her? I am simply curious"

"Say, are you bisexual?" she asked after a pause.

Is she serious? Is this girl fucking serious?

"Are you crazy!"

"Ah so you are gay"

"WTF is wrong with you. I am straight. One-hundred percent straight. I am into girls"

"So a normal pervert"

I stopped talking to her, took out my phone called the ambulance.

Just as the phone was dialing, she snatched it from my hand and cut the call.

"Why are you calling the hospital?"

"To get your mental disorder checked. I am sure you have a problem"

"I am fine" she calmed down.

"Why do you need to know my sexual orientation?"

"So you are gay"

I raised my phone again

"Fine I\'ll stop. I\'ll stop."

She continued, "Then why were you staring at Nishikawa like a fresh piece of meat in the morning?"

Oh, I was? That\'s messed up. It is good no one else saw. But how do I explain this to her.

"Oh that… I got the vibe that we could be really good friends." I said finally.

"That\'s gay"

"Okay it is my fault for staring. But I am not gay."

"What about Shizuo?"

"I wasn\'t staring at her boobs like a pervert. I swear." To be honest she got the biggest ones I\'ve seen on a highschool girl.

Her expression changed from a slight smile to creeped out and she covered her chest with her hands. An awkward silence followed.

"Do you love her?"

"What?"

"Do you love her?" She asked again louder.

"I heard it properly the first time. As for Hiwari san, I don\'t love her"

"Then why do you want to know about her?"

"Actually, in the morning while talking I got the feeling that they knew each other. So, I was just curious" I figured this was the best way to say it.

"Hmm… is that so"

POV Akari Nakano

He is lying again. Looks like he loves Shizuo. Why does he need to lie about it? He can just say it to me. When I teased him just now his reactions were so cute, but now he is lying. Even during lunch, he was acting all the time.

Well, I won\'t interfere in his attempts to woo Shizuo. As I was having these thoughts

"You haven\'t answered yet. Why do you hate me so much?"

"I don\'t hate you. I just don\'t like fake people"

"Ah…" He stopped walking "M-My house i-is this way so I will be going now. Bye"

"Yeah. Bye"

He ran away.
